All things pertaining to leasing and drilling in the LSBD.

  • Randy Houck

Looking forward to more great information

  • btj

Can anybody tell me if this formation extends into Cass county?

  • Mike McKenzie

    Hi All,

I too enjoyed old site but not smart and unkind and unnecessary remarks.  I'm in.

Does anyone know what is going on in Morehouse and West Carrol parishes. More information that is not on sonris information

  • obed w odom

Keith, I appreciate the new site. I also enjoyed the old site but didn't understand the occasional apparently arbitrary deletion of my messages.

  • Randy Houck

What is the latest status on Roberson well?  Also, I'd like to know what other wells have been/are being drilled specifically into the Brown Dense, and what their status is... A simple listing with that information would be helpful.

  • Skip Peel - Mineral Consultant

courtney, there are two LSBD horizontal wells in Morehouse Parish, one by Devon Energy (SN 243422) and the other by XTO (SN 244072).  There have been mineral tracts located in W. Carroll leased in several of the past monthly state mineral auctions.  You can find the specifics on SONRIS Lite by searching by Well Serial Number and by Lease Sale And Tract History.

Ok!  Like the new site.  Some of Us enjoy the knowledge that is shared. Keep up the Great Work!

  • Marc Stepman

I like the new site.  It looks great

  • Mark P

As to question as to this formation extending into Cass County, the stratigraphic equivalent does stretch into NE Texas and at least as far west as Hopkins / Rains County. Gets deeper and gas prone in that area but it is still the primary Smackover source rock in East Texas.

LSBD WELLS AS OF 2/3/2012 is a page not found

  • Bruce Malcolm

Do the "boots on the ground" know any more about the third phase of testing the fracking of the Roberson well?  I'm a nearby mineral owner via wife's interest.

  • Ernest D. Nyegaard

Does anyone know of any activity in Union Parish around Bayou DeLoutre?

  • Roger Booth

I am looking forward to good information and conversation that leads to a win win situation for all of us!

    thanks, Roger aka Hog-Ark

  • Joe Deerhunter

Thanks Keith - count me in here.  One of the next times I'm down that way I'd like to meet up with some of the neighboring Atlanta-area mineral owners like Bruce Malcolm.

  • Cotton

Why did I just receive email to LSBD mineral owners ? Went to link and it said group does not exist ????????????
I know of the problems but I just recieved the email saying that ??

I have know about 30 day drafts ( which Is the way it is done), but no 70 days.

  • obed w odom

I signed a lease in Sept, 2010, with Pinebelt and received a 30-day draft, which I sent to their bank for collection. They waited the full 30 business days, but did finally pay.  I have also never heard of a 70-day waiting period  or of the company called WhitMar.

  • courtney oliver

Whitmar is a company out of Denver and they do a lot of work with XTO

  • Jon

    Courtney

    Where is your property?
  • Jon

    Sorry Courtney .

I meant to ask Walter about the location of his property.
  • courtney oliver

Ion Cb 1 I have some property in Morehouse and West Carroll. Do you know what is going on in these Parishes?

  • Jon

    Courtney,

My Property is in Claiborne Parish about 4 miles south of Haynesville.  I have no knowledge other than what I read on this site.

                                                      JON

courtney, check the archived discussions in this group for those that touch on Morehouse Parish.  XTO (ExxonMobil) has an LSBD test well there.  Nothing in West Carroll currently expect state bid tracts.

What kind of "legal action", Walter?  Is your attorney and experienced Oil & Gas attorney?  Energy law is a specialty which can not be mastered by a quick read through of the Mineral Code.  Many in the Haynesville Shale Play found out to their disappointment that just any old lawyer won't do.

Any news on the COG Brown Dense well that was supposed to frac in FEB?

  • obed w odom

I have heard nothing and The Baron commented yesterday that this say-nothing approach was more common among operators than SWN's more open approach. Still, COG will eventually have to report any oil sales and also update their investors, so they can't keep us in the dark for too long.

SWN has staked new well pad in SW corner of S23-T18s-R21w no earthwork yet but field crew "hinted" posibly plans for 3 other pads in seemingly a N/S  unit (S23&S14, both full depth sec to max lateral). New to GHS and don't know if comments reguarding lease would still be of intrest and if so where, group? My take on GHS GREAT blog for info. Many thanks for all responsible.............bee meadows

  • Sarah Randolph

Bee, are you east of Ruston, around Choudrant? Pea Ridge area has had gas for many many years...don't know about oil.

  • obed w odom

This location seems to be about 11 miles west and 1 mile south of the SWN Roberson well near Atlanta, and is about 11 miles east and 2 miles south of the disappointing Brammer Watson-Fullenwider well  that was drilled in 2010 in the Dorcheat-Macedonia Field of Columbia County. Thanks for this breaking news Bee. So far I haven't bee able to find any mention of it in the AOGC database, but I'm just learning how to use that.

  • Sarah Randolph

Thanks for the help Obed. I forgot to consider north and south on townships! Still learning.
  • mt "bee" meadows

Sarah I'm originally from Ruston now live in West Monroe but our LA oil/gas interest all located in Claiborne  in Townships 22N &21N. Tried to get Landman with Triad Land Services, currently leasing my wife's property in Columbia Cty (S22-T18S-R21W), intrested in leasing with in the next townships south (22&21) but no interest. I've little O/G knowledge but in visiting with Petro-Chem execs they tell me that their vertical SMK wells as far south as T21 penetrate the BD and tho listed as gas well continue producing some oil (ref well ser #240852-Duke Est 12. S12-T21N-R5w; #240620 Meadows Est 13. S13-T21N-R5W

#242329 Meadows Est 18 3Alt. S18-T21N-R4W) but none of the maps seriously being considered for the BD dip south of T23N so at this SWN is not interested. Will this Change if a horiz well is developed south of T23?

  • Bill Dailey

Bee, I've heard rumors of Sec23 18S 21W being a potential SWN site for a couple of months or more.  I've driven by there and seen the stakes myself.  Just curious:  How recently was your conversation with the field crew?

  • mt "bee" meadows

Bill I didn't speak with field crew but Carolyn Chaffin, property owner, relaid this conversation she had with crew chief in early Dec.  Sorry I thought this much more recent.

  • G Meaux

Bee, my family has land in three sections of T22N R4W leased to SWN so maybe eventually they will have interest a little further south

  • Jon

    Gerald,

If you don't mind, what were the terms of your leases.

    Thanks. Jon
  • G Meaux

    Jon Cb 1,

     3 yrs, $300/acre, 1/5th royalty.

  • Jon

    Thank you Gerald.
  • Gary Carter

Regarding the Lower Smack/Brown Dense being present in Cass Co, TX, some logs in wells penetrating the horizon in that area show what appear to be the formation and drillers logs/samples describe the formation with shows of hydrocarbons. In addition, produced gas H2S levels are lower in some of the Upper Smackover wells than elsewhere, occasionally lower than a half mole percent, which might bode well for the deeper horizon.

Force integration (Arkansas)? Landman wanting to lease my minerals claims he has 60% leasehold and has intimated that he will force integrate me if I don't accept his non-negotiable terms. I live in another state so it is difficult to check courthouse records. Other than paying for the on-line service, is there another way to know if the information I've been given is accurate? Thanks.

  • Skip Peel - Mineral Consultant

You need to review the Arkansas Leasing Manual.  And if you wish an answer to your question you will need to supply additional information especially the section-township-range where your mineral interest is located.
