It depends how your contract reads. If there is no production and no work towards production on the property and the 640 acre pool (section) you are in, and if there is no option for renewal then you should be able to negotiate a new lease. You need to read the fine print on your lease and maybe even hire an attorney to look it over if it is not clearly spelled out.
