Keith: I think the arithmetic is found on your blog...but I can't seem to recall exactly where. My ?: If I have leased 160 acres in a 640 acre section that is currently being drilled, and my lease agreement gives me 25% royalty, just what is my percentage of ownership? Can you direct me to the computation I need?
Thanks, Joel Brink
Yes I am a massage thearpist. Tell me about your kink in your neck. How it started, when it hurts, what actions you do that make it hurt. I will tell you what muscle it is and what streches to do to fix it.
Hello, my name is Greg bowman-my wife and i own 1 acre property in De Soto Parrish-we live in arizona. We bought the property because my Wife's Mom and sisters and brothers live there and my sister in law lives on our property-all next door to each other.I know what it is like with money-i'm 49 and when i was 18 years old and going to college i got hurt in a accident and my legs were parylized. We sued the Government and in 1985 i receieved a good middleclass settelment and realized real quick just who my true friends really are.i'm just going to use what you said, it's so true i Pray for patients and trust in GOD, my family and true friends.since i live in yuma, az and my family in De Soto Parish outside of shreveport don't seem to know much about things concerning this-i think in Feb. of 2010 they started drilling on our 640 acre parcel in section 32-it should be soon when we start recieving royalties. We originaly got from petrohawk 25% royalties and 3500.00 up front 1 and half years or so ago-i believe petrohawk and chesapeke made a deal and chesapeke did the drilling. What i'd like to know is- who is your lawyer and if i should have him look over any new future leasing or whatever comes up.Thank You and God Bless You. In His Grace. greg and micki bowman
Keith,
Thank you for starting this site. I am so new to all of this I would have been totally lost, now I can communicate with my landman and others in this field without being cluless. I have ALOT more to learn...anyway..thank you.
Mary Alison Knighton
Keith,
I am Mary Alison Knighton. Alison to be specific. I hope I didn't overstep any protocols. I say this because I spoke to Pinebelt's project manager today. I have a lease with them as does my Uncle. I have spoken with him before. Waiting for my payment,by that I mean I don't need it..would be nice..but just wondering why they seem to be dragging their feet...by saying that..guess I put some negative info. out there. So, to retract any negative comment I made... Pinebelt is not a speculative company like others may be. Pinebelt knows what they are doing and have done all of the geographical work in the area. I never meant to put anyone down. I apologize for any negative comments I have made and look forward to doing business with Pinebelt in the future. I do trust them. Communication is great.
Thank you,
Mary Alison Knighton...I go by my middle name.. Alison :-)
Keith, first great website. Thanks. Second, you posted a flow rate on the Fayetteville
Shale Site. Can help me understand this flow rate? I thought that a typical Fayettevile shale play flow rate was between .5 and 2.0 million cu ft per day. 8 million is huge! It this a matter of more effective fracing or are my estimates completely wrong or is this atypical? Thanks. And could you explain the "attach gift" thing.
Thanks Keith for this website. It has made me aware of what is going on in Louisiana and Texas and since I have land in Texas and rather green on all the issues, I do appreciate you work on this. Are there any meetings in the East Texas area that my sister and I could go to. What is the going rate for a bonus in the heart of Shelby county?
Hi, Keith. Is a Press release like the following too commercial to post here? Of course, it relates to the Eagle Ford Shale, not the Haynesville, but many of the players in one are interested in the other.

Keith, A friend from Caddo Parish contacted me yesterday to say that the rotten 2007 lease my folks signed is now considered void because it is unlawful. She said to check out fairdrilling.com for answers. Do you know what's going on?
Thank you so much for this web site. I live in Alabama, and it is the only way I have to keep up with wants going on. I have a share of the mineral rights that a great uncle retained when he sold a piece of property in the early 1900's. I am pretty sure, it is where they are drilling the Gobi #1. Hope it is a good one.
I enjoy the site very much but can't understand why on the Natchitoches Par section it will frequently show a post of say 50 minutes age (as of 12 noon 8/2610) and you try to find it and the most recent one is several days old. What am I missing
Hi Keith, I really have learned a lot from this site and am trying to expand my use. I am having trouble with sending messages to friends. Is there a "help" feature?
Hello Keith, Great website. I just love being able to get and give info between everyone. I'm also glad to read that in some cases you have taken steps to protect people from others that wanted a quick gain. Keep up the great work.
Keith, Have been a member for some time now and have a question that hasn't come up, or at least I haven't seen it. Re: T16, R15, S27. Well 240477 now shows on sunris to be producing. My question: According to the Natural Gas Royalty Estimator website one must enter the daily (mmcf) in one of the blanks. The Sunris site shows 7220 for this amount. I am UMI on my acreage on Woolworth Rd. If I enter 7220 mmcf the money shows an ungodly amount. What number should I be entering here? Thank you for your hard work on this site also.
Good morning. I'm not sure if this is where I would send this, but everytime I go to your website now, I get a virus popup message from my AntiVirus software. This just started a couple days ago. Granted, it may be my computer (and I'm looking into that), but it's only on your website that this is happening. I wanted to send you the screen shot just in case you wanted to look into it. Thanks! HaynesvilleVirus.pdf
Just wanted to let you know I received a Division Order from Chesapeake yesterday. They had my acreage wrong, but I'm hoping to clear it up right away so my royalty checks can start pouring in.
ANd, again I want to say thanks for all that you do to help keep us informed.

Keith, I do not know who manufactured mugs for APACHE, but I have a couple of free ones from a convention; they are long lasting, very high quality and everything taste great from them. They are my FAVORITE coffee or hot tea mugs. I KNOW THEY WOULD BE GREAT SELLERS. WISH I COULD BUY SOME LIKE THEM!!!!! I got them about three years ago at NARO. The good quality windbreaker that is geared to turn a little rain shower is a useful clothing article. Light-Weight Hooded- wear or take it with you many autumn, winter and early spring days!!!!! Thought maybe you had not thought of those and every family member could use them.
I am glad HS is making publicity!!! NEED MORE AND MORE AS WELL AS SUPPORT.
KEITH, A GOOD BUMPER STICKER WOULD BE "GO GREEN---RECYCLE CONGRESS IN 2010!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
Keith, you have a beautiful wife and the children are adorable!!! The cutest pic is the one where the other child is holding the bottle for the baby. So precious. I am an only child and my son is; thus, we do not know much about siblings. We enjoyed the pics. Thanks for asking me to be your friend; I could not figure out why unless it was the pitiful note I sent when my computer goofed and stopped at midnight, and the other did not have security so I was frantic and "stuck our". I thought you might feel sorry for me. LOL I admire the work you do. I suppose that you have viewed "Drilling Info" by Allen Gilmer, and he is an amazing person too. He is very nice to everyone and helpful to all.
Yep, that's my Cabana with a full outdoor kitchen and fireplace. ..... My husband and I don't like to travel, so we decided to make our backyard a "stay-cation" ... something that all our friends and family could enjoy!.... .and, thanks to the Haynesville Shale we were able to build it.
Keith,
I would like to see you have a list of good O & G Attorneys on your site. Site members could list names and phone numbers of ones they have done businness with and would use again. Any Attorney who requested an override for any work would be barred from the list or put on a list of shysters.
I've talked with several Attorneys who called themselves O & G Attorneys. None were an expert in all aspects. I'm currently looking for a wellbore easement expert and have not found one. Sure I found an Attorney who says he can review the contract they want me to sign, but he has not done one of these before.
Maybe even let Attorneys advertise on your site (if it's legal).
Anyway, great site. You have helped so many so much.
Thanks,
Jack Blake
Much is being discussed regarding the O&G industry within the individual groups and discussion threads regarding various areas or plays. I was wondering what your take and advice would be about a group "Oil & Gas Professionals" within which three threads would be dominant. Geology of oil & gas, Engineering and production, and Minerals - leasing, etc. A group in which the general discussions of all aspects of the industry within the ranks may be had and it would be open to all so industry "experts" may answer specific questions of all members. A group which members could focus on for general info and tips about the industry in a more efficient manner.
Just wanted to thank you for the Holiday wishes. This has been a tough year for us. Toughest one yet. We lost Dad on the 7th of December. He had a stroke the first part of the year & has had numerous bouts with CHF & kidney function problems through out this last year.My nephew CJ was hit with an RPG back in June in Afganistan. He has had 39 operations trying to save as much function in his arm as possible. My co-worker was killed on the job a few months back & we lost my Gabby girl 5 1/2 months ago.
But through all of that, Gods grace has been more than enough to see us through. We dont understand how sometimes and at this point I am afraid to even ask how.
I hope everything is going well for you and yours. You have a beautiful family. Those Louisiana girls make pretty babies. But then again, thats why guys like us try to marry up ! LOL
Keith, I just got a look at the sponsors for the NARO meeting and its really got my antenna twitching. I'm not going to post this on the main page but I am sending it to a small number of members with whom I communicate regularly. I thought you should know.
Chesapeake - Phillip Energy Partners (local mineral buyer/broker) - Ilios Resources (local land company and mineral broker owned by site member Laura Fitzgerald) - tfg Financial (tfg is Tim Fitzgerald, Laura Fitzgerals husband.)
Thank you so much for the help you and others have given me so far, as a total Novice when it comes to leasing and drilling. I found a completion notice in the Tyler Paper yesterday for the well drilled on my property, and have a few questions. Here is the RRC link for my info. Tolles #1
I had 86 acres leased to EOG,but they used less than 20 with small acreage from the tract next door to drill a 40-acre well. My lease with EOG expires in February, so I am wondering if this well ties up that lease, or if the balance of the acreage is up for re-leasing.
This is all totally new for me, so I'm just learning as I go. Thanks for any help you can give me!
