D. Garr, Thanks for the information. The TRRC site is difficult. I called Austin seeking help. The lady was nice but she wanted the survey... well # and location of the well. I said... if i had all of that i wouldn't be looking for the information. HA! jhh

It's true that it can take a bit of time to get the hang of searching the TRRC site. Here's a quick tip, however, that can help you to find a particular well you want to review using their Drilling Permit Query page at the following link:

http://webapps.rrc.state.tx.us/DP/initializePublicQueryAction.do

1. If you want to look at well results for that E.Texas region in general, then go to that RRC District window and scroll down and highlight "6" to select District 6 results.

2. If you want to be more specific as far as County, use the County field and scroll down and highlight the county that you want to select.

3. If you have a particular lease name that you are looking for then enter that name into the Lease Name field. (note: it helps in your searches to highlight the "contains" option in the scroll down field rather than the default "begins with" option.

4. You can use the other fields to further refine the query results based on other options like "total depth" , "field", "operator", etc.


I find that by just using the Lease Name field and selecting the "contains" drop down option, while limiting the results to RRC District 6 will usually pull up the well I'm looking for pretty quickly.

TX RRC web site is easy for me to navigate, however I'm not very clear on TX mineral laws. Are surveys unitized the same as sections are in Louisiana?

No, it's not quite the same. The operator puts together leases that are contiguous but which may overlap several surveys, on a horizontal well. A unit map is produced showing the perimeter of the unit and all the tracts or parcels contained within the unit along with a P-12 report which lists all the pooled interests and the amount of acreage being pooled. The acreage on the plat and the P-12 have to match. That's the simple version, LOL.

Their best previous IP was 9.5 MMcfd on the Holt #1H so this is a pretty big deal for them.
