Geologist to examine Jackson Parish well log?

Where could I find a geologist to look at the log of a 16,000 foot well drilled on my property in south Jackson Parish 5 years ago? Cabot Oil was looking for a Cotton Valley zone below the Hosston zone, but said it wasn't there.

 

I've been wondering if any Bossier shale or other productive zone may show on the log besides the Hosston zone (about 10,000') which has been produced for over 30 years and is about played out?

 

A geologist offered to look at the log for me last year, but he said he got too busy to examine the log. The log of the Knight well (SN 230233) is posted on www.sonris.com under "document images."

 

Cabot drilled the 16,000' Womack well (SN230279) about three miles from the Knight well. I was told they hit a high pressure zone, but that it couldn't be produced. Could that have been a shale layer they were drilling through?

Yeah, ask Shalegeo. If it's a log that is filed with the LOC, he can access it. If he isn't too busy and you ask courteously, he might just give you his professional opinion gratis.

Skip, thanks for the info. I'm not sure how to contact members here on the forum. But if I can find out how to contact Shalegeo, I will ask him with my utmost gratitude if he has time to look at the log. Besides the log at sonris.com, I also have a hard copy of the log, if necessary.

On the Main Page under the section showing members, click on View All. Then in the search box enter "Shalegeo" and search. You will find his personal page. Leave him a message concerning what you wish to know and the Serial Number of the well.

I want to thank ShaleGeo for taking the time to look at my well log today. However, the log did not contain the porosity information he needed about the well. I tried to get more complete information about the well from Cabot Oil last year but was unsuccessful in doing so.

Shalegeo has previously posted that the Bossier production in Jackon Parish was the "Bossier Sand" not the shale.
Who cares if the production is from a shale or a sand? As long as there is production.
