Skip, I see a company named JAG Operating is drilling to ha wells in Northern Webster. Is this the northernmost reaches of the play and what can you share about JAG Operating, are they a capable company for ha drilling?

Bruce, JAG is a small local independent. They do not drill horizontal wells that I am aware of and the vertical HA wells they are drilling in north Webster are Haynesville Sand wells. These wells have no relationship to the Haynesville Shale Play. Haynesville Sand wells have a long history in north central LA. The Sand represents a conventional resource which has sufficient permeability to be produced from a vertical wellbore. There are hundreds of producing Haynesville Sand wells in north LA. as companies have been drilling them for fifty or so years. Where the Haynesville formation is sand, it lacks any producible shale as far as I know. There are many operators who are considered "Shale Players" that are active in north central LA. If there was any Haynesville Shale present in those areas, they would be forming units and drilling horizontal shale wells. They are not.

Skip, much of the initial Haynesville Sand production was unconventional in nature as the sand formation had very low permeability and required extensive fracture stimulation for the vertical wells to have commercial natural gas production.

From my experience the intial wells were drilled in the Arkana Field in the early 80's. At that time under the natural gas price regulation the production from these wells received a price of > $7 per Mcf (thousand cubic feet).

Les, I would expect that some number of the later Hay completions in this general area were fraced. Many of the earliest were not or I have found no evidence of such. Regardless of their conventional or unconventional nature, I think you would agree that the Haynesville formation in the Carterville Field, 23N-11W, is sand, not shale.

Les or Skip, Based on earlier comments that haynesville sand formations require fracing, what has been an average production rate from these type wells?

Bruce, my recollection is most of these wells tested in the 1 - 2 MMcfd range and declined rapidly. I cannot remember the capital cost per well.

Marathon Oil's well S/N209216 in the Haynesville Field has been in continuous production since Jan. 1, 1989. I would consider it to be representative of an average Haynesville Sand vertical well.
