This has probably been answered before, but I would appreciate it if someone could please give me more information about what this attached letter means. Thanks

Means they are not interested in forming a unit there at this time, not going to drill.
Thanks - now we know.
CMK, see my post below. Chesapeake just recently permitted a well for one of the sections in question so they may still proceed with drilling the sections.

Chesapeake, Petro-Hunt 8 #H1 Well, Serial #241491, S8-T13N-R7W
Ann, the application was withdrawn in regard to five sections because the Haynesville Shale formation had already been included in existing Cotton Valley Units. The Cotton Valley Units were formed in a previous 2006 unit order (attached). The Cotton Valley Units for the five sections in question include both the Bossier Shale and Haynesville Shale in addition to the Cotton Valley Formation. So Chesapeake can drill and complete wells under those unit designations. They also have the option to define the Cotton Valley Units to exclude the two shale formation and apply for new Haynesville Units. This has been done by some operators (ie Questar) in other parts of the play.

S7-T13N-R7W, CV RA SUE Unit, Chesapeake, Ashland Field, Natchitoches Parish
S8-T13N-R7W, CV RA SUD Unit, Chesapeake, Ashland Field, Natchitoches Parish
S17-T13N-R7W, CV RA SUC Unit, Chesapeake, Ashland Field, Natchitoches Parish
S18-T13N-R7W, CV RA SUA Unit, Chesapeake, Ashland Field, Natchitoches Parish

Les, I was a bit confused about why that wasn't considered before the applicatiion order - but I'm still learning - thanks to you and those on this web site. Thank you for the detailed info.
Ignore my post Ann, looks like Les B nailed it as usual, good luck. I hope you get good one.
I love it, nicest group of guys I have ever been around. It's like a big family.
What does HAL stand for?
I have an idea but just want to confirm my idea?
Funny you talk about HAL 9000, sometimes we refer to HAL as "the big red machine".
Ann, it was probably just an oversight by Chesapeake.
Was at the location of petro-hunt 8-13-7 well site today at noon and they had drilled a starter hole 90 feet deep, the guy I spoke to said they were waiting on concrete then they would be done. There was a small rig still in place. The guy said the drilling rig should follow in just a few days.
Topycreek, thanks for the update. Many of the operators are now using these small "spudder" rigs.
