A friend has received an application letter from attorneys to unitize 900 plus acres in T-7 R13W by Devon and an additional 6 wells - in the letter the wells were for James Lime for gas and condensate - most of friend's property is under Toledo Bend and it seems unusual to me that it would not be for the Haynesville . . . what is the deal with the increase in acreage and the James Lime? Friend did not have the letter on hand so do not have the particulars - meeting will be at Best Western in Natchitoches at the end of August - Attorneys are from Shreveport. I know this is hodgepodge info but maybe someone else know more about this.

Could you (or somebody) scan where the unit will be ??
Devon has a James Lime horizontal drilling with a surface location in Section 8 and a PBHL in Section 5.
Thanks Electro - Ken, my friend said she would let me copy the letter - and I will scan it in for you.
Would the amount of acreage (900 +) be a good thing or a negative? Would that be why Devon is applying for an additional 6 wells?
Shaleee, a lot of the horizontal James Lime units are a section
and a half or 960 acres in size.
Seems like the units are larger when part of it is submerged. Eagle has some large units in Desoto. On another subject would somebody look on sonnris lite at the Patterson (Forest) 543 in sect. 7. When I went by last friday two huge flatbeds loaded with cason where waiting to unload...any idea what may be going on at this stage?
I see it is section 8, last report in early July running cason on sonnris. When I saw the trucks was late last week.
The unit is a combination of sections 5 and 8 equaling 900 acres. This is likely a pre-application notice letter which contains a plat. If we can get the plat posted, it will be possible to post opinions regarding the six wells.
How long do you think it will take them to drill 6 wells?
Skip,

What's a PBHL?
Planned Bottom Hole Location. The location of the producing portion of the horizontal lateral.
ALongview, I do not think this application is for 6 well permits. That's why I requested the plat be posted. And if this was an existing unit, the six wells could be alternate unit wells which would still require permit applications for each. And even if they were alternate unit wells, their approval would not require that they be drilled on any time schedule. Alternate unit well designations are good indefinitely. It is possible these are existing wells.
Friend says letter states this is to create 6 additional drilling and production units for the exploration and production of gas and condensate from the James formation reservoir A - JA RA SUC through JA RA and SUH. - Zwolle Field. Hargrove - Smelley - Strickland - & Langley are the attorneys - meeting is August 25.
