Thanks Bill,
I am trying to be patient.Good Luck!
Is any member of the group tracking the Bonanza Creek Energy, Dorcheat Unit #48 in S11 - 18S - 22W, Columbia County? It's permitted to 8800' as a vertical oil well and is 10 days drilling ahead. Just didn't want you to overlook it. LOL!
Skip,
Bonanza has drilled several of these cotton valley wells this year and the completions have been in the 20-60 bbl range. I think that they did one horizonal and that may have been the 6o bbl well. Someone else may have more detail. I just remember seeing them on the AOGC permits and completion reports. There is a completion on AOGC Friday 8-27-10 report for 52 bbl.
LD, how long lived are these CV wells? And do you think a vertical would likely fall on the lower end of the 20-60 bbl range?
You are asking something that I am unqualified to answer. Howerver, I think the CV wells are somewhat like Smackover wells in that they usually have a long life in S AR. Otherwise, it seems that there would be no payout on some of these wells. Maybe someone else can provide more input on this topic.
I think you are right concerning a long productive life. Maybe Aubrey can give us some insight. I'm also curious as to cost and the need to fracture stimulate the CV verticals.
Is that 60bbl/day for total of 1800/month?
That's a range of 600 to 1800 bbl/month. And there's a big difference between $42,000/month and $126,000/month. That's why I was asking about vertical vs. horizontal. And about well cost.
If the well cost for a horizontal is 5 million then the numbers don't add up unless they are expecting these wells to last 10-20 years. It would take 5 years alone to pay for the well and who knows how long the well will last. Seems like a big gamble.
I only saw one permit for a horizontal and do not know if it was acutuly drilled as a horizonal. I heard a rumor that it was to be drilled but never heard anything after that. All of the other permits have been vertical permits and i think all were for 8800'.
Skip, I have had a small Working Interest in the Dorcheat Macedonia Field for 30 years or more. Bonanza Creek Energy is my current Operator (I've had a half dozen or so Operators over the years) and I can tell you that DU # 48 in Section 11 of 18S/22W is not a Smackover. DU # 48 makes the 10th CottonValley/Haynesvlle Sand well that I've participated in in the last year or so. My working Interest consists of a very small interest in Sections 9,10,11, 14 &and 15 of 18S/22W. These wells are part of an infield drilling effort by Bonanza Creek. I also have a small mineral interest in Section 7, where Brammer Engineering and Anderson Oil and Gas have permitted a horizontal Smackover. If Bonanza Creek drilled a horizontal Cotton Valley, it was a well that I had no ownership in and therefore have no knowlege of. Can you tell me if Brammer/Anderson have drilled the horizontal Smackover in Section 12 yet?
Spring Branch,

There has been an application for permit for the 7-18S-22W well but the permit has not hit the weekly AOGC permit report. The well drilling is in 21-18S-23W.
