Lisa, I saw on another discussion that you have minerals in Alfred Lout survey. That survey is located at the intersection of SH87 and FM 139 in a small community we call "Lout Town" It is about 4 miles south of Shelbyville. To my knowledge, there is a Goodwyn family that still lives in that survey. I looked at the Shelby County records and found where a SE Goodwyn sold some property in 1902 - the document # is Vol 35, Page 300 in that survey. It was handwritten and very hard to read. It didn't mention any minerals being reserved but my guess would be that you are related to the Lout's from that area. Ellora permitted 3 wells back in 2007 and never drilled them. I don't know how many acres are in that survey, but it looks like the WI Davis family owns alot of the mineral acreage. Hope this helps!
Lisa, it seems therre was a Pigg in the tax office in Shelby County. I do not live there, but I believe I have seen the name on some paperwork. Anyway, it would not hurt to look up officials or call and see if one works there. You might ask in the appraisal and tax office as they might could direct you. If you can find family connections, perhaps you will have assistance.
Etola, Chesapeake filed a permit in Alfred Lout, A-427 this morning for the Jeannine #1H.

According to the plat, the well location is less than a mile from intersection of SH 87 South and Fm 139 in the Lout Town community. It will be visible from SH 87. It doesn't look like it is including all of the Alfred Lout survey just the northern part and southern part of JB Tucker survey. This must be some of the leases that were purchased from Ellora by Chesapeake before the sale to XTO. I hope they actually drill this one so we can get a true opinion of Chesapeake and their Haynesville potential. So far, they haven't produced in East Texas like they are doing over in Louisiana!

Good luck
You might want to just start with the Shelby County Appraisal District office and ask for the chief appraiser.
If the G-G-Grandmother only had daughters, how would the chief appraiser know who they were?
Maybe you don't understand how almost everyone in Shelby county is related in one way or another. :)
I do, we have owned the same land since 1875. This site is a very good place to look if you do not know all the connections and need help locating kin.
is related in one way or another. :)

Heck, intrepid, you could say that about the entire piney woods region, LOL! Shelby County is not unique in that respect.

Bryan, have you tried putting an ad in the local paper? I found a "lost" cousin for my Grandmother by putting an ad in the paper where she was last known to live. It works pretty well in close knit communities.
....you could say that about the entire piney woods region,....
