Looking for information on Ashlor Land Company out of Shreveport, La. We received a letter/lease proposal from them for some acreage in NE Shelby County. The land is fairly close to the recent Goodrich- Dean wells. I'm wondering who they are leasing for. The land is currently under lease to KCS, but will expire very soon.

I just got a letter from the company today.  I know nothing about this whole process, didn't even know I had been left any mineral rights as this gr-grandmother died in 1967.  Why am I just getting this now??? ( I do own property in Joaquin, but no minerals right on that property).   Where do I start to find out what to do?

I can look only at the Shelby County's tax record.

Is the company leasing any where else in Shelby County?
Not a clue where to start to look...I just got the letter today.
OK, thanks for the info but like I said I a NEW to this subject so these question may sound dumb to you.  My first question is can land be drilled without dividing the profits amongst the heirs(?) ????  Why did this company company come to me, they must work for someone?  IF they are about to drill on this property why didn't they contact me directly?  From what I understand there are 8 of in this, as I know my brother and sister both got the letters.
Jane, what survey are you in and where in Joaquin is your property?  You can check on the internet or go to the courthouse in Center for info.  I would attempt to find out how much others in the area are getting?  I also own property there. Ashlor Land, I believe, may have a connection with Classic like a sister company or may have a connection of some sort---unsure.  I have a slight connection, and I may be able to ask some queries.  Are you near Hgw. seven and I wondered who owned the property in the "olden days" as I might know about the lease.  They, most likely, just want to lease it to put into a pool later.  The well could be drilled anywhere in the unit pool.  How near the Goodrich Well are you?  It is between 7 and 84.

Jane, I was told (rumor-talk) that KCS has sold some minerals around there to Goodrich.  Also, sometimes companies want to purchase surface on which to drill.  You might check to see if your lease is owned by Goodrich.  I would call KCS.  You could have some zones leased and others unleased.
