Caddo rat,

It has a lateral in excess of 6000' and is indicated to produce from a depth of about 10,750. Nothing special

CR, The Holcombe 10H was drilled last year from Panola County to the northwest with a 4375' lateral and has produced 2.1 BCF in 11 months.  This lateral (Holcombe 11H) will be about 2000' longer and to the southeast into Panola Co. and, as dbob said, it's not an unusual well for XTO in other counties but it is a little bit unusual for Harrison County where most of the laterals are more comparable to LA wells.

They may just want to compare it to the first unit well to see if the extra expense of a longer lateral is justified by bigger production.  XTO (ExxonMobil) has deep pockets and can afford to experiment.  I wouldn't think they would be looking at a Bossier completion in this county but who knows with XTO?  Maybe they want to look for the oil everyone has been talking about up there (just kidding... sort of).

Of the recent permits in RRC region 6, I'd say the most interesting one is Devon's 12000' vertical wildcat in Marion County.

You made me look, dbob.  LOL!!  I hate to admit it but I don't look at Marion Co. unless someone asks about it or points out something interesting.

What do you think GMX was looking at up by the Cass Co. line?  Permit in March and already drilled, vertical to 10,200' (Wildcat).

Psst,  Guys, there is a Marion County group that would love to have you post the Devon well there.  They haven't had anything worth following over the last three years.  You might also get some interest from  N. Caddo Parish members.  Everyone deserves at least one well to watch.  Cass County would also be interested I am sure.

I put a link in the Marion County group.  

 

I haven't looked at the GMX wildcat, but based on their public comments in March, probably a test for oil - possibly something they referred to as the Norphlet Sand.
