SWN permitted the L SMK RA SUA; Doles 30 -22- 1W #1-Alt, S30 - 22N - 1W, Ora Field, Union Parish today.  The first alternate well is an indication that SWN now believes they have an area of focus to prove the Brown Dense economic.

this seems to be posivive and i hope they have narrowed the scope of their operations and that they are successful.

A long lateral well

sorry for lack of knowledge, but what is a long lateral,  4000 ft.,  8000, or longer.

As Ed said, this alternate well looks to have around a 9000' or greater proposed lateral and to be only 760 feet from the western boundary of section 30, whereas the alternate unit SWN applied for on April 23, 2012 was due north of the BML well, only about 750 feet from the eastern boundary and confined to section 30. Maybe they will drill this shorter alternate later, but this current alternate will span 2 sections, which seems to signify some degree of confidence on the part of SWN in its success.

obed, what well are you referring to as the previous alternate unit well?

Skip, the previous alternate unit well application is given in the thread under this discussion entitled "Alternate well-ORA Field," posted by Mr. C on April 26, 2012. This thread gives 3 pdf scans as attachments, which show the application for the alternate unit well and plat. I am trying to give a link to the plat below, but it may not work.

obed, "that" alternate unit well was never approved as proposed.  I wish the Office of Conservation would make note in the public hearing schedule when they allow unit applications to be amended at the last minute but they do not.  Compare the unit application plat in your link above with what was actually approved as Field Order 136-C-2, link follows.  Thanks for reminding me of the previous application.

Hey guys,i

I am new to this discussion board so bare with me, please. I co-own a portion of land in Lockhart, La. and in South Arkansas. I live out of state and was not able to attend any meetings that SWN held. Can you tell me if the Ora field falls in that part of the Lower Smackover Brown Dense and if not what field were they referring to at the meeting held in Monroe

Bobbie, to get accurate replies it is advisable to learn the section-township-range location of your LA. property as that is how the state tracks O&G development activity.  Lockhart, LA looks to be in Sections 4 & 5 of Township 23 North, Range 2 West.  We would write that S4&5-23N-2W.  Sections 1 & 12 of 23N - 2W are a SWN proposed unit in the Bayou De Loutre Field for the L SMK formation.  The simple way and inexpensive way for mineral owners to track activity and tell where it is located is by ordering, The Roads Of Louisiana, Updated & Approved, from Mapsco.  Last I looked this map in book form was $19.95 plus shipping.  The map overlays roads and places with their section-township-range.

SONRIS Lite report of 7/19/2012 for Doles well:            07/18/12: SPUD.
