SWN permitted the L SMK RA SUA; Doles 30 -22- 1W #1-Alt, S30 - 22N - 1W, Ora Field, Union Parish today.  The first alternate well is an indication that SWN now believes they have an area of focus to prove the Brown Dense economic.

Sonris scout report. It seems they are not experiencing any problems on this well yet. My question is why is it taking so long to drill these wells? Are all of the BD wells going to take 60 days to drill? For those familiar with drilling and AFEs, does 60 days drilling keep SWN's 10 million per well AFE in tact?

A careful review of the most recent SWN webcast will reveal that the goal is to one day drive well costs down to $9 - $10M.  Cost per well on these first horizontals are likely significantly more.  However SWN has a cost advantage regarding drilling as DeSoto Drilling is a subsidiary.

Thanks Skip,

That is the reason I wondered why they would lay rigs down. It seems with all they need to HBP and all they need to learn that it would make sense to keep their own rigs running.

If SWN is limited on where else they can (economically) drill their next wells either in the LSBD, Fayetteville, or elsewhere with the company rigs that are in the play at the moment, then slower drilling at least keeps their crews active for the time being and prevents layoffs of experienced crews.

Skip's right, early on $9-10M well cost was stated as a goal.  Also, Mueller stated more recently that with the higher pressure zones encountered on some wells the well cost would be somewhat higher than the $9-10M cost as well.

DeSoto Rig #21 has disappeared from the weekly rig report.

Newest info I have is SWN changed their plans to stack the rigs locally but did not disclose what they planned to do with the rigs.  Sources think they are moving DeSoto #21 out of the area, at least for now, and may have already moved.

This is just a guess, but with SWN having acres in the Bakken, and the stuff in CO, they might have moved it up to one of those.

SONRIS report of 9/5/2012 for Doles: 9/5/12, STUCK AT 11684'. It's interesting that they were reported drilling at 12593' on 8/27/12 and now are stuck at 11684.

Probably got stuck at that depth either tripping in or out of the hole.

Do you know if they are back to drilling ?    Also, any word if they have started on the pipeline in the BML area.
