Do I have to have it filed all over again, or can there just be an amendment done?
And about how much would that cost?
Can this matter be handled at the court house only?

Ken, answering a few questions would help you get some answers:
1. What state was the succession/probate administered?
2. What state was the succession filed?
3. What is the mistake you're looking to fix?
4. What is the exact document that has the mistake (affidavit of death and heirship, judgment of possession, will, etc.)?
1. Louisiana
2. Louisiana
3. mistake on lot numbers
4. small succession

You can amend the small succession to identify the errors in the original, and the relevant corrections. If any third party is disputing your ownership or the small succession, you should get a certified copy of the correction from the clerk of court after you file it. Forward that to third parties by certified mail, return receipt requested.

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
