Cat equipment arrived yesterday in Pennington to start road for pad. 3.5 inches of rain last night halted this action. Hopeful for the end of the week. Still looking for drilling permit to be posted.

DH -

Sorry, its Sand Branch Creek, Field # 80456050.  Its an older field - PDQ in Houston County lists the Bigger-Wright, Shupak, J.R, Larue Heirs, Laure, H, Gillete, and Davis, R.M. leases - I think those are mostly older wells.

completion depth is around 10,000 feet, with about a 7000 foot lateral.

Sad news for those who drink - TD's Liquor Store was destroyed by a tornado or high wind this morning. Devon Rig still looked like it was drilling. Anyone have any meaningful damage to report? Merry Christmas!

No damage, over here, but the power went off just after noon. Came back on about 15 minutes ago (6:30) so I had a really quiet day. My son is in Colorado working for the winter so it's just me and the cat.

Merry Christmas!

Shotwell Feedstore and an adjacent residence were destroyed in Pennington - I don't think there were any significant injuries.

Understand much power is out in HC due to downed dead trees from last years drought that fell with the high wind and rain storm also many county roads were blocked

But the best Christmas present ever is 1.1" of RAIN ------ very cold tonight hope that cat can stay warm jffree.

Very Large Flare burning on Interstate "Gamble" last night

Snoopy says Revolver's well site pad surface being prepped for move-in of FRACKING eguipment, etc.

Very crowded in Pennington yesterday and today--news crews, sightseers, insurance adjusters, etc. Wish it was for oil news instead of the tornado. Have not seen a tornado level a structure in this area like that ever. Store and big metal feed building just exploded into rubble across both sides of 287. It tore through the woods behind there straight to where the Revolver site is. If the Scan Texas had still been there, Scan Texas  would be no more.  Funny how things work. I was actually in Austin but got back last night to no electricity and no land line phone, cell phone went down--very isolated feeling. All back on this afternoon. Houston Co Coop did good- called in extra help. 2012 Christmas definitely not one in the running for Best Christmas--was hoping to have an oil derrick for a Christmas tree and that didnt work out and then a tornado--lets get on to 2013 as more hopeful for Pennington. Thanks for all your help, comments and news and we will continue to be hopeful for oil/gas news in Pennington.

 Thanks Joseph,

Do you know if the Tornado touched down anywhere east of Pennington ?

To my knowledge, the Pennington Tornado did not touch down further east, but there was a second cell with rotation to the north and east a little later in the morning.  I haven't seen any reports of significant injuries, which if it holds is the blessing in this.

It looks as if the tornado path started in the woods next to Revolver pad, went directly north across Fodice area to Shotwells at Pennington for the direct hit then skimmed north through woods to Baker Springs area on FM 2781 going north toward Kennard.Saw a green oak tree on a house and front windows blown out. Did alittle damage to the 12 oil wells pumping there. Crews were unloading generators at main station there and doing some repairs on Christmas Day afternoon. Power came back on about 5:00 PM. (Laura LaVelle field).

Can anyone look at the stats on those wells and just give an overall summary of production--poor,medium, good ?????

Joseph,

   RE: Laura LaVelle Field

I know some of the History on that field but not the Statistics except when the field was about 10 yrs old in 93 it had made a million barrels ----- and most of that shallow field was drilled with large water well rigs and extends from Arbor Area into Nogalus, Little Centerville and Centralia Area -------------- this is a vertical play with a fresh water drive -------- it was found by accident in the early 80's when Mobil was drilling a deep test SW of Kennard and a rig hand just happened to notice oil on the pits

Believe that Trinity Co. permit several months back was a attempt to extend it east into the North Cedar Apple Springs Area.but has yet to be drilled?

Yea Goldking first drilled in 77-then started oil production about 1981.The one deep test drill by Mobil I remember was in 1986----they had about 50 landowners come out to the site for a big barbeque by Bobby Sam Harkins. They were going to "show us the oil". Brought a cylinder up and said -sorry we were wrong- no oil. About that time there were 4 producing oil wells in Laura Lavelle at Baker Springs. Then it shut down for quite awhile--heard that some persons learned the hard way to have a shut in clause in lease. There are now about 12 units pumping--have seen a big increase in tanks, equipment, buildings, etc on the site in the last 2 years. Production must still be good. Trucks are hauling in and out every day all hours of the day.
