Just remember the cost to file a new drilling permit is very cheap compared to cost of the science gained.
Remember this is all still a giant science project at the moment. Drilling plans and locations will change as the science develops

Yes, it is a rather simple matter to apply for a new permit to drill and the cost is nothing.  However in LA operators may apply for a 6 month or 12 month permit to drill and the difference in price is about $600.  In exploration of a prospect with little well control and leases approaching expiration it is better to hold 12 month permits to accommodate those changes in plans.

They must have heard us talking,LOL. New permit for Hollis shown today at SONRIS. Sarah must be right about next well.

Although the Hollis is a re-permit, there are some differences.  It is permitted as a vertical well and has a MD of 11,429' instead of the original TVD of 11,011'.

Yes, Sarah was right.  SWN turned on the electricity today and should be moving the rig this weekend.

Wouldn't it be scary to find out this did make decisions based on our comments and stuff???

Rumor Will Drill has filed application to drill the Billie Ruth Hayes in S30 T19S R18W
two miles north of the state line in Columbia County. Well may test LSBD or Smackover.

The application has already been posted to the site.  Use this link to view it.

A south AR newspaper reported that SWN did not consent to participate in the well because Will Drill declined their request to drill the well 1000' True Vertical Depth deeper.  That would appear to indicate that this is a Smackover well as opposed to a Lower Smackover (Brown Dense) well.

SEXTON #1-ALT, North Shongaloo-Red Rock Field, S13, T23N, R9W

Well reached TD (11,530 Ft.) 12 days after spudding. XTO is operator. Drilled by Nabors rig #735. Congratulations to all personnel.

Should be logging about now.

(With story collection) Will-Drill seeks to form Lower Smackover Brown Dense drilling unit in southeast Columbia County - magnoliareporter.com

Plans for another Columbia County well into the Lower Smackover Brown Dense formation are reported in documents on file with the Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission.

The paperwork involves a hearing set for the commission’s regular monthly meeting that will be held in Fort Smith on Tuesday, August 27. The hearing is about an application from Will-Drill Operating LLC of Shreveport. The application seeks to integrate all non-consenting working interest owners into a proposed 144-acre drilling unit in southeastern Columbia County.

Will-Drill wants the commission to issue an order doing one of two things. The first option orders all parties who do not consent to the lease of their land in the affected section to participate in the cost of drilling, testing and completing the test well. The second option forces the non-consenting leaseholders into the unit, creates a reasonable risk factor, and takes away from their share of a producing well a penalty until production costs are recovered.

Will-Drill says in the application that it has received consent from people who own at least a 50 percent interest in the right to drill and produce oil or gas from the proposed unit area, and have agreed to the formation of the exploratory unit.

The company plans to drill the Billie Ruth Hayes No. 1-30 in a wildcat field in Section 30, Township 19 South, Range 18 West. The site is off County Road 417, southwest of the intersection of County Roads 28 and 85 in the North Chalybeat Springs area. It also happens to be one of the most remote locations in Columbia County, located only two miles north of the Louisiana line.

The application says that the proposed unit “is potentially productive from the Smackover formation and perhaps other convention and/or unconventional sources of supply, and is not covered by field rule for the Smackover formation.”

Will-Drill plans to drill a vertical oil and gas well to a total depth of 9,600 to test the Smackover formation. Will-Drill estimates that the well will cost $1,597,700.

Will-Drill has sent out notices of next week’s hearing to almost 300 parties who may have interests in the affected leases. Among them are Southwestern Energy Production Company of Houston, which drilled the Roberson well in the Atlanta community into the Brown Dense almost two years ago. Southwestern Energy has been a leader among companies that are trying to determine if the formation can be profitable for oil and gas recovery, and has about 500,000 acres under lease in South Arkansas and North Louisiana. An exhibit in Will-Drill’s application lists the efforts that it has made to acquire acreage Southwestern Energy has under lease, or to get Southwestern Energy to “farmout” leases to Will-Drill.

Will-Drill’s description of these efforts began with a September 2012 conversation between officials of the two companies. After an initial lack of interest on Southwestern Energy’s part, Southwestern Energy asked if Will-Drill might be willing to drill 1,000 feet deeper than it had planned, and to share information it learned with Southwestern. After additional negotiations regarding terms of a potential lease, Southwestern Energy informed Will-Drill on July 1 that its offers were not acceptable.

SWN's Mueller stated today that there is one economic well(WB-XOM) and their third well(the BML) will not meet their economic hurdle but will reach payout. He also said they were too close to making the play economic to give up. Here is the link.
