Recent rumor in my neighborhood concerns Force Pooling. The word is that there is a meeting in Baton Rouge Dec. 9 at 9:00 A. M. about this issue. Is this a fact or is it rumor. If it is fact what is the meeting for. Appreciate and help. Tommy Munds

The public hearing is to allow Chesapeake to create a drilling unit for the Haynesville zone, and to unitize section 26 (including force pool any unleased properties) . Since you are not in section 26, but a neighboring section (27), it would do no harm for you to attend the hearing, simply for the educational experience. I have posted links to the application, and to the hearing notice, in case you want to read them for yourself.

Thanks for your information. I knew about the hearing for section 26, but the rumor I heard just today seemed to deal with our section 27. Our section has an issue pertaining to the east half mineral rights being held by the state. I am one of the 130+ owners that do not have our rights. We have been trying to get meetings with the state to discuss the problem but so far noone for the state high enough up the chain will reply, including the governor. We are certainly disappointed in him. On his web site you can request a meeting but so far all we have gotten is a call that our request was received. It seems all he cares about is going around the country getting himself in the media for a possible run in 2012. Back to the hearing. Seems a waste of time and money to go to Baton Rouge for the hearing. It is not our section and if you go have they ever denied a permit for a drill site? Thanks again for all the replies. Mr. Munds, just in case you are unaware, there was a public hearing held in June, for the section north of you (section 22), and a separate hearing was held in October, for the section west of you (section 28).
I also am a unleased mineral owner. I was wondering why it would do no harm to attend a hearing for a neighboring section. What harm could result from attending the hearing for your own section?
None, that is why I said "it would do no harm...". The same would apply, be it for your section, or an adjacent section. Both could be educational to the attendee.

Now, if you break social protocol, and create a "situation" at the hearing, things could have a different outcome.
The reason I ask is that the speaker at the Bossier Bar Assoc. seminar suggested it might be best not to attend, but if one does attend to not sign in at the door. I was wondering for what possible reason.
Was the speaker an oil and gas attorney?

If your that worried send a third party to the hearing.
I would be curious to know the reasoning behind such suggestion. Do you recall which speaker made that suggestion? If you can recall who made the suggestion, please provide his name so that this issue can be resolved.
The speaker was an attorney out of Baton Rouge. The Bossier Bar Assoc. may remember his name. I am extremely interested in knowing the reason. There was a limited q+a session after his presentation and I regret not asking at that time.
danny, the state knows that their system favors oil companies and that the entire process raises lots of legal questions. By attending and signing in, you could be giving up any right to protest that you were not properly notified of the application. You need to know what they are attempting to do with your land so sending a third party might be a good idea.
Knew about the section 22 hearing when it was announced. Some of the neighbors are close enough to the drill spot that they got notice in the mail. They are drilling now, we can hear the work going on. As to our section with the mineral rights issue, I know they have permitted and or are drilling in the four sections around us. Knowing that and the fact we have talked with Mrs. McKeithen in the mineral lease office about our issue gives me the idea that they are holding of on permitting our section with our groups work trying to get our rights back.
Most of the contact lists are outdated, with names excluded and incorrect addresses. The biggest concern is the increased size of the units that the oil companies are proposing. The larger the size, the more your interest is diluted and the more problems the mineral owner will have.
