Tanos Exploration II acquires ConoPhillips interest in Webster & Bienville parish, Ada Field

My sister and I have mineral interest in wells drilled and operated by ConocoPhillips in sections 21,22,26,27,28,33 & 34-18N-8W and sections 3 & 4-17N-8W in Ada field, SE part of Webster parish.  We  just found out ownership has changed to Tanos Exploration II but not sure of exact date of transaction.  We received our last royalty check dated 4-25-16 from ConocoPhillips for February production of natural gas.   Is this a positive move for us and other mineral owners in this area for future production and exploration?

Thanks Jay for your reply, sure hope this does happen.

Tanos Exploration is currently running one rig drilling a horizontal gas well in Cherokee County, Texas.  More about Tanos:

"Tanos II focuses operations on the Ark-La-Tex region, employing a multi-faceted strategy: acquisition of producing properties with drilling upside; "drill-to-earn" joint ventures that leverage our horizontal-drilling expertise and cost structure; ground-floor prospect development; and prospect screening of outside-generated ideas where the reward is commensurate with the risk."

Sounds encouraging.  Does Tanos have a focus or expertise for any particular producing formation(s)?  What are they drilling in Cherokee County?

Really?!  LOL!

Great, several years ago we received royalty checks from Sonat then they sold to El Paso and they sold to Wildhorse.

Attached is a spreadsheet showing Tanos wells since 2013 when they became Tanos II.  A small company that looks quite active.  God bless them.

Use this link to perform RRC research,  Inter alia, you can bring up drilling permits, completion reports and nice maps,  The software is top shelf and can be tasked a million different, ways.  Search by operator name or number, by time period, etc.  The information is hyperlinked to other RRC databases.  It's the apex of digital research.  Have fun.  Someone should look at the completions and tell us how they did.

To start--hit the launch application link

Oil & Gas drilling permits are known as W-1's.

Oil well completions reported on W-2's

Gas well completion reports: G-1's and G-5's

Here is the spreadsheet which was dropped when I edited the post.

For some reason it won't let me attach the spreadsheet.  Too bad. Very interesting.

I think the upload is attached

Thanks for the links and spreadsheet, Paul.  Good to see that you were able to link the spreadsheet.  The website was originally designed for jpg files as that was what Keith thought was the best fit.  He was right.  In the early days members most often uploaded pictures.  There are still a lot of them in the archive.  Over the years Keith has tweaked the site design to be more flexible.

10-4.

I'm afraid it was my incompetence that troubled the upload.

My computer won't let me upload a file if it's open.  As soon as I closed the open spreadsheet, it uploaded.

I'm learning, too slowly by some folks reckoning, but I am learning.

The RRC map data base will even let you search by county and survey.  The map is real time and, when zoomed in, will even give you API#'s for wells.

In Texas, instead of section, township and range, we have surveys, generally named for the individual that patented the land.  The system is derivative of Spanish Land Grant system.

Until early in the 20th century, any white, Christian, male could receive title to a league of land, just by completing some paperwork.

I think a league is around 4,400 acres or a million square hectares--something like that--it's been thirty years and when I need to I look it up..  The next division was a Labor of land.

Today, the surveys, in addition to name, have Abstract numbers.  The Abstract number is our North Star.

The map database will let you bring up any parcel if you know the Abstract number and county.

I'd encourage anyone to try it for themselves.

No one ever accused me of being the sharpest digital tool in the shed and the most important parts probably went right over my head.  I'm good/ok, but I won't call myself a sharpshooter.

If I ever get a mind too though.........

In Texas, Tanos has multiple assignments/bills of sale of record to Breitburn Energy.

That probably only means Tanos used to have money.

Breitburn's stock is trading around 32 cents a share from a high of around 22 dollars.  I haven't heard news about Breitburn in years that wasn't bad.

Tanos has completed some racehorse wells, but they aren't supermen.

Tanos completed some real dogs in Shelby and Nacodoches.

In addition, Tanos has assignments to the following:

  • BW ENERGY CONSULTANTS INC
  • COX JOHN DAVID INVESTMENT TRUST #2
  • GLASS DUEL TRUSTEE
  • INLAND GAS CORP
  • KIDD PRODUCTION LTD
  • MOON OPERATING INC
  • PETROLEUM SYNERGY GROUP
  • ROSEMONT ENERGY PARTNERS
  • SPENCE RESOURCES
  • STONEWALL PRODUCTION CO
  • TANOS ENERGY HOLDINGS LLC
  • TARPON OIL & GAS CO
  • TEAM INVEST INC
  • TWOJO INC
  • KLING OPERATING CORP
  • SHEPHERD ENERGY PARTNERS
