This is a surprise because it is one hell of a southern step-out from the established Haynesville/Bossier shale fairway.
GEPH II applies to from a +/- 1280 acres unit covering sections 24 and 25, 7N-12W. The application seeks to form a unit but does not seek a well slot. Below is a link to the application.

Permalink Reply by Skip Peel - Mineral Consultant on January 11, 2024 at 13:43 Thanks, phoenix. Ensight permitted the well as a vertical Smackover so it will see a lot of rock. Most of the exploration that far south has been related to the Saratoga Chalk.

Permalink Reply by phoenix on November 19, 2025 at 8:34 The Ensight IV HZ well in Section 7 T7N 12W is now drilling. Also lots of activity at GEP II Iron Horse Location appears rig expected anytime.
Permalink Reply by phoenix on December 11, 2025 at 8:02 According to Sonris the Ensight IV well has reached TD 20,485' should be fracing soon. A lot of activity at the GEP II Iron Horse well location. Appears getting all ready for a rig anytime.
The results of these wells will be very interesting as they are both such a large step out from existing Haynesville Production.

The Ensight IV well is the Haynesville Shale test in Sabine Parish, Zwolle field, Section 7-7N-12W. I’ll put a link to the well file below. There appears to have been some mechanical problems with the well. The location is approximately 3 ½ to 4 miles east of Noble. There is no work order for the frack at this time.

Permalink Reply by Dale Walton on December 12, 2025 at 1:37 GEPH has also reached TD in their vertical stratigraphic test in 27/8N/10W. Robeline Field. I assume they will log, core, analyze, etc. then go HZ if they like what they see. They could also attempt a vertical completion in the Haynesville, Bossier, or even Smackover if they went that deep. TD is below 16K.

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
