31,000 scientists reject 'global warming' agenda
"More than 31,000 scientists across the U.S. – including more than 9,000 Ph.D.s in fields such as atmospheric science, climatology, Earth science, environment and dozens of other specialties – have signed a petition rejecting "global warming," the assumption that the human production of greenhouse gases is damaging Earth's climate."
"There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate," the petition states. "Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth."

Cap and Trade and other taxation schemes based upon the farce of Anthropogenic global warming will add hundreds of billions if not trillions of dollars of tax burden on American energy consumers. We must reject these schemes and focus on energy independence, not squeezing even more dimes out of the already overburdened members of productive society.

Tiger, I think the topic poster is saying, based on the concluding sentence of the post, (and I could be missing the mark here) that he/she is opposed to paying more taxes. That there really is no problem, no GW or climate change or whatever flavor it is today, and we should not have to suffer increased taxes through our utility bills to pay for a non-problem.
So, I guess you're correct in your understanding of the poster's topic ... let's just keep on doing the same old, same old because some don't want to pay for change. We should all be attending one-room schoolhouses (if our parents put the priority on it because we might be needed more on the farm) so we can hopefully attain a 6th or 8th grade education. No need for more taxes & change.
When we always do what we've always done, we'll always get what we've always gotten.

CMK - Let's say, just for the sake of argument here, that you have convinced me with your research ... there is no global warming/climate change.
So, to what use do you propose to put the ng produced from the HS?
We can continue to use our own resource of coal to fire power & industrial plants. No reason to switch to ng.
We can continue to wait for electric/electric hybrid vehicles. No reason to make NGVs.
What reason, then, do we have left to drill & produce from the HS?

I think we should be developing natural gas fueled vehicles as quickly as possible. I agree with you wholeheartedly on moving away from oil, especially oil from the middle east.

CMK - Okay, that's what we'll do about transportation. This is an area, however, that consumes but a small sliver of the energy fuels.
How do you propose we fire the power & industrial plants? For our electric energy, we can fire plants with coal (which costs more than ng right now), we can go nuclear, we can wait & wait for development of renewables. I've seen petroleum coke mentioned for one plant.
How shall we fire the biggest consumers (the power & industrial plants) of energy?

Okay, you've convinced me (again, for the sake of argument). So, to become energy independent, research & development of renewables are going to come about for free? Also, last I checked, the estimated cost of the Chevy Volt had increased from $30K to $35K and I think I recently saw it estimated to cost $40K. The Tessla is $100K. Going to pay taxes on that (the cost of a vehicle), too.
But I'll agree with you, for the sake of argument, that the citizens should no longer be squeezed. Just keep on doing what we've always been doing.
