Mainland Resources, Inc. Enters Agreement for Acreage to Test Expanded Haynesville Shale Area in Mississippi

June 23, 2009 9:15 AM EDT

HOUSTON, June 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Mainland Resources, Inc., (OTC Bulletin Board: MNLU 5MN-Frankfurt) a Nevada Corporation (the "Company") has signed a Letter Agreement to acquire up to 8000 net acres in Mississippi. Mainland will own a 100% Working Interest in the acreage and will be the Operator.

The project has been identified using reprocessed seismic, as well as log information, from a well drilled in the early 1980s by a major oil company. That proprietary data shows prospective Bossier/Haynesville Shale and Hosston formations. The Bossier/Haynesville Shale was not considered a viable or economic production resource in the early 80s and therefore, was not validated during drilling to a deeper prospective target. The well was drilled as a controlled blowout through the Bossier/Haynesville Shale to Total Depth.

According to available well logs from drilling, the identified Bossier/Haynesville Shale is demonstrated to be over 2500 feet thick with extremely large pressures up to or exceeding 20,000 psi. The well was still in the Bossier/Haynesville Shale when drilling operations were discontinued due to high pressures, etc. The Bossier/Haynesville Shale is possibly much thicker than 2500 feet, which is several times thicker than the Bossier/Haynesville Shale encountered in NW Louisiana. The density neutron log from the previous drilling also shows good average porosity from 12% to 15%.

Mainland President Mike Newport states, "We like what we see in this prospect and it could be an excellent addition to our Bossier/Haynesville Shale, and Hosston/Cotton Valley assets in NW Louisiana. If the data bares out, this project could be a truly world-class play where our Company is well-positioned in additional significant Bossier/Haynesville shale."

Jaybird,
And you are basically accusing me again of deleting posts. And as I have told you, I did not delete the posts you refer to. Because, believe me, if I had the authority to delete this discusasion, I would.
I am not a landman, I am a mineral owner. But I understand facts, and years of mineral ownership as a working interest owner and a mineral owner in 4 parishes have taught me one thing: rely on facts, and facts only. You do what you want and you can believe what you want, but the facts are the facts and you or anyone else have yet to disprove them. What more do you want? What else can be said?
BirdDawg - I agree, what else can be said. These are adults, can't tell them what car to buy, where to build homes for better appreciation & lower taxes, what investments to make. Adults have to take the information available, exercise some critical thinking skills, and make theit own choices.

The information has been presented repeatedly. As much as I applaud you efforts to want to help people avoid erroneous information, I can also see it is frustrating you and wearing you plumb out. Save your breath for those that value & appreciate it, and maybe some of the others will take a look at everything here and decide your way.

But just like chosing that car or truck, everyone is entitled to and responsible for making up their own minds.

I thank you for your courteous efforts & intentions - sesport :0)
I have never accused you of deleting comments...I have simply asked you if it was you...never did I accuse you of doing that. I asked you the question whether or not you did it...and of coarse I'm the bad guy for asking the questions on here. No biggie.

I also agree with the relying on facts. I do wish everyone the best of luck, including you BirdDawg.

In time we will see what happens with the boundry of the shale. have a great day.

Jaybird
Snake,
There have been many wells drilled through the Haynesville Shale in Lincoln and Claiborne Parishes.
Many wells which have been drilled to the Smackover. You say "until they drill", well they have drilled.
What more do you want? That is what you asked.
Holy smokes...what an angry thread.
You know, at this point I could really care less if the HA is in Lincoln and Claiborne. What matters to me is that drillers are getting very good at horizontal drilling. We know without a doubt the smackover, cotton valley, hosston, etc.... are present in our neck of the woods. It's my understanding Petrohawk and El Paso have had outstanding results drilling laterals into those formations. I'll take a cotton valley producing 15mmcfd any day!
I agree JB,

We (my family) are very familiar with EL Paso drilling to those formations that you speak about above. Looking forward to the first Horizontals in Claiborne and Lincoln Parish when the economy rebounds and things get moving in the upward direction. Petrohawk is doing a fine job with their Horizontals too.

I would take a 5-10mmcfd well anyday. Thanks for the post.

Jaybird
BirdDawg,

I haven't gotten involved in the disputes in Lincoln and Claiborne Parish. They don't pertain to me. When I found an article on Haynesville production in Mobile Bay a year ago, Jay explained that it was oil. I found this article while scanning National news articles. I sure had no intentions of adding to the contention between any of you and grayshales.

I was interested a year ago and I am interested today.

I didn’t insist that the HS was in Mississippi or that it will be productive anywhere else.

Obviously it is in what they are referring to as the Ark-La_Tex trend (or whatever they chose to call it).
I have never suggested that it is shale. I have over and over said that if it produces gas, it doesn’t matter what they call it.

If gray is wrong so what?

In my opinion, TELL PEOPLE IF THEY ARE AFRAID THE SHALE WILL BE PRODUCTIVE TO EXCLUDE THOSE DEPTHS.
"Hi-iii, KB."

By the looks of things around here, the group has been out of coffee for about a week. Wow.

Is Community alright?
Did some fracing in Miss. some years ago. pressures were above 16,000 psi. had to use pressuree multipliers on the job. Breakdowns and expense of fracing the well were enormous. By the time is was all said and done, nobody benefited from this well. Well was around 20'000' deep. One of the largest frac jobs I've ever witnessed. never been back.
Gray,
I resent you pasting a discussion started by me in the Lincoln Parish Group into this discussion. That discussion has nothing to do with the EASTERN BOUNDARY OF THE HAYNESVILLE SHALE.
DO NOT DRAG ANY OF MY GROUP DISCUSSIONS INTO YOUR GOSSIP FODDER MACHINE.
This thread is crazy.

Entertaining, but crazy.
