Natchitoches boil advisories off; Keithville on

Associated Press - July 1, 2009 5:44 AM ET

Natchitoches Parish officials have ended a boil advisory for three areas, but residents of 1 Keithville waterworks district and the South DeSoto Water System still have to boil their water before using it.

The DeSoto boil order was called Tuesday night after some pump problems. The pump was fixed, but people were advised to boil water until further notice.
Keithville Waterworks District 7 officials said the order there might be lifted Wednesday. Water remained discolored on Tuesday - though residents say it wasn't brown and murky, as it was Monday.

Waterworks officials say people used so much water over the hot weekend that pressure couldn't keep up.

In Natchitoches Parish, an electrical failure cut water pressure Monday in three areas, but the problem was fixed by Tuesday.
You mean water comes out of a faucet a different color than brown. I've heard tell of this miracle, but have yet to see it.
I'm glad you find this funny
I live in N. DeSoto Parish, and I'm on the North DeSoto Water System. On Thursday, June 25, I came home to find a notice in my mailbox that we were under a boil advisory. The notice was dated June 22. I can't say I took it entirely seriously, since I had been using the water for 3 days without knowing the order was in effect. I had noticed low pressure, but I've had low pressure ever since a subdivision was built across the road from me about 5 years ago. But, I set about boiling some water, and used some bottled water to fill some ice cube trays, and made plans to get some more water bottles filled the next day.

Friday I came home ready for a tedious weekend of boiling water. I found another notice in my mailbox telling me that the boil advisory had been lifted. Date of this notice was June 25!

The advisory had been in effect and had been lifted entirely without our knowledge. There's got to be a better way to let people know what's going on, but I'm not sure what it is (since I myself don't always read the newspaper or watch the local news).
havn't used my well in years I am on distric 7 water
Shawn,

Haven't used my water for three years, water yard with it, rarely do white laundry with it, and dang sure don't drink it. I cope with it, got no choice
I have lived here in Springridge for 31 years and I have always had great water. My well is 210 feet deep but I set the pump at about 90 feet when I had to replace the pump. I am thinking now that I better drop the pump down to about 180 feet because of all the water these gas wells are pulling out of the water table. So far everything is good and I do a lot of watering. I did not go with the District 7 water service because they said I would not be allowed to use my private well for watering or other use and that is crazy, so they can keep their water.
