What field is this please?
As referenced in the application, "The proposed drilling unit is not within the confines of any existing oil or gas field." The discussion topic contains a link to the application. The S-T-R is listed in the application.
I expect that horizontal drilling in Smackover, and other formations will become commonplace. I know for certain that XTO has been looking at potential horizontal smackover well on my property. I have discussed it with their engineers and geologists several times.. I now expect them to drill first one in Haynesville Field or Columbia county just north of Haynesville field.
Hello Mr. Sanders. Long time since visiting with you. Could you tell me where this marl is located? as in which formation etc. They have told us since the beginning that this is a experimental play in the Smackover. Do you know of any wells in this marl? Thanks
I'm no geologist but the Smackover is a limey mudstone formation.
North La,

I am a geologist, with lots of experience in the Smackover formation. The Smackover consists of sandstone, limestone and shale. It is the most important producing formation along Arkansas-Louisiana line. It is productive locally from Mexico to Alabama. Productin is from both Sandstone and limestone. Most of my productin in northern part of Webster Paris is from the Smackover.
Thanks for calrifying.
Allen,

I do not know of any production from marl, but, intuitively I would expect there may be some somewhere. I am not sure, but I think the Brownstown formation may be marl. It lies immediately above the Tokio formation. Tokio is at depth of 2800 feet +- in my area.

I am not familiar with the brown dense. However, I beleve it is the basal portion of Smackover. I have heard it referenced as Smackover "D" zone by some in N. La. I do know it is very dense with low permeability. But it has been productive in some areas. It is present in my area, underlying the Smack. "C" zone. Camterra did some experimentation on it near my property, but it was not viable so they completed well in C.

I certainly believe it has potential in a horizontal well. Rumors that I heard about the subject well just this week indicated EOG is definitely going horizonal with it. The person I heard it from should know.

I'll be in your "neck of the woods" next week. I have trailer at Lake Erling. Would like to visit with you sometimes. Can you tell me how to get to EOG well from Lewisville or Bradley. I will be driving from Little Rock on Wed.
Yea Mr. Sanders its easy to get to. When you get to Lewisville, continue on to Bradley. Turn right and go thru downtown area, continuing west you will go approx.8-10miles until you come to a four-way crossing located in Gin City. The road makes a hard right turn there but you will turn left heading south. Go about amile or so and the well site is on your right. Its easy to see. If you get lost, I believe you have my phone number.
Allen,

I lost most of my phone numbers when cell phone crashed. Just in case I don't have it I will ask you to send it to me at calais0929@aol.com. Thanks. Will call you while I am in the area.

Aubrey

I hope they have good luck.

The Lithium Connection to Shale Drilling

Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…
