Thanks. In the meanwhile, I called the La Dept of Natural Resources trying to find the well sites. The web site is very complicated for a lay person like me. I couldn't negotiate it. If you find any information that is relatively simple to use, I would appreciate knowing where to look.

From what I was told, it is accessible only by computer. If you know how to negotiate their program, a lot of useful information is there. The key is in knowing the system. I tried to write down the instructions to find out if there is a well that will be near my home, but after three pages of notes, I got lost.

I am very disappointed that they do not have a paper map to look at! It is very hard to visualize small plats and understand how they relate to the whole city.

If this helps you: I found out that the newest wells have the highest numbers and begin with 236, with a total of 6 digits, eg. 236000. I couldn't produce anything trying this angle.

There is a lot of information available on their site, but you really need to be a landman to know how to use it.

Mr. Broussard, the District Manager, told me that they handle things only after a contract has been signed by the leasing company and the land owner.
So whatever you find, I am assuming that it is a done deal.

I asked Mr. Broussard about legal rights of property owners. A homeowner can not stop a well from being placed next to his home. A well can be placed within 500' of a residence and the homeowner has no recourse because it is all within the law.

Have you looked into the environmental issues associated with gas wells? A good site is info@earthworksaction.org

The LA Dept of Natural Resources has a website where all wells drilled in the state can be located. You can run a search on Sonoris, although the site is somewhat complicated in terms of figuring out where to go. In terms of locating wells in North Caddo, I am in the process of researching the Sonoris site to determine if any applications for permits to drill have been applied for with the DNR (although I don't know if such information is on the Sonoris site).

The History of GoHaynesvilleShale.com

GoHaynesvilleShale.com (GHS) was launched in 2008 during a pivotal moment in the energy industry, when the Haynesville Shale formation—a massive natural gas reserve lying beneath parts of northwest Louisiana, east Texas, and southwest Arkansas—was beginning to attract national attention. The website was the brainchild of Keith Mauck, a landowner and entrepreneur who recognized a pressing need: landowners in the region had little access to…
