Why the 8 degree slat? Is it due to a fault?
I am sure they have a good reason for this. Maybe some can come up with an answer. I just hope it is a really good well. Do you think the timeline(60-90 days) is due it being the first well they have drilled in the area?
Marc, it is possible Chesapeake will drill vertically thru the section first to cut a core sample and then pull uphole to drill the curve and lateral. Also being the first well means slower progress.

In some areas the Haynesville Shale dips at a steeper angle due to the geology. The dip can definitely reach 8 degrees or more. Because the lateral is being drilled south to north it is probably travelling back "up-dip". This the reason for the 98 degree angle. We can see more after the well is drilled and the directional survey is available.

That makes sense with what you are saying. I guess from what you are saying some wells could be on a up-dip an others could be on a down dip. Any difference in production given the up or down dip in other parts of the shale?
Marc, no real difference in production. Most wells are located in areas where the Haynesville Shale is relatively flat with not much dip.

The Petro Hunt 8H is now the CV RA SUD; PD 8-13-7H and was reported yesterday as drilling for 40 days. Unfortunately no depth was reported. The Petro Hunt was permitted as Lower Haynesville Non-Unitized. It now is included in Ashland Field Order 1262-D approved 3-21-2006 by Chesapeake application and includes a depth definition covering 10,590 - 16,105'. Let's see that ought to cover the Upper and Lower CV, the BO, the HA and the SMK. LOL!
GD, there are two wells planned to be drilled from the Section 8 surface location - one into Section 8 and one into Section 17.

GD, please help me understand the question. All the information I have seen in Sonris shows Ser #241491 as being drilled in Section 8. The 2nd well that is planned for Section 17 has not been posted in Sonris.
