I have 25ac east of Tenaha and south of Paxton. What are the going rates people are getting for leasing?
Thanks for any info & help. :)

i'm going to double check, but i think that is inaccurate information. i believe sam. l.s. does drill.

Maybe your neighbor meant that they don't drill Haynesville wells because I don't think as of yet they have drilled one, but they do drill oil and shallow gas wells. Huxley has many Samson wells that are producing and they are, in my dealings with them, a respectable company.
While I accept the statement that they flip a lot of leases, they have operated on horizontal Haynesville wells in several counties. If you would like a list of wells, I have that information, also. In fact they are drilling one, at this moment, in Nacogdoches County.
Jffree1,

If the one you are referring to is the Samson Malcolm GU #H1 in the J. Walling (or AG Walling?) survey in Nac. county... Have you heard anything about that well?

Thanks,
LL
No, I haven't heard anything about any of the Samson HZ. wells except for Silver Hammer. The one drilling right now is Eleanor Rigby GU #1H and they just finished drilling Penny Lane GU #1H. Both are in Y'Barbo. Malcolm finished drilling around the end of July.
Seeing that they are naming wells after Beatles songs... Here are a few that I would like to see:

Fixing a Hole, Sea of Monsters, Wild Honey Pie, Don't Pass Me By, Her Majesty, Carry the Weight, I Want You (She's So Heavy), Come Together, Golden Slumbers, Don't Let Me Down

LL
I'm glad I'm not the only one who made that connection, ledlights. I expect to see "Yellow Submarine" #1H just any time now, LOL!!
I think I'd want the "Baby, Your'e A Rich Man Too" 1-H, on my own property if I had the choice...

Just so long they don't name mine the "Taxman" 1-H or "You're a Loser" 1-H.
you guys are crack'n me up. i have noticed a trend of wells/units being named by the company rather than using the traditional method of the peoples names associated with the land/minerals. any ideas as to why?

I'm glad to hear that Samson is drilling Haynesville wells in neighboring counties and maybe soon will drill in Shelby on land that is HBP. (I will keep my fingers crossed.) In Huxley, they named all their oil wells after the Flintstone characters because they were drilled in the Fredricksburg. Someone in that company has a sense of humor.
Sampson Lone Star has done a lot of drilling in the Huxley Area and all around in those communities on Toledo Bend as well as Shelbville Area. They have leased a small amount around Joaquin and Tenaha. I have not heard of their drilling around Joaquin, and my friend and neighors never got a well at Tenaha. They have been active around the lake area.
king, etola you are correct. Samson Lone Star is just the Texas branch of Samson Resources. They are one of the largest private E&P's in the country, and would have a market cap in the billions if publicly listed. they do not take on a lot of risk, which is why they shied away from leases at high prices/high drilling cost/high risk in 2008. this is just the way they do business, and I've seen in play out in other areas besides East TX.
