FXEF, I think I saw on DNR a while back that Chesapeake was applying to be the operator in Sec. 20. If so would it be unusual for them to  allow another gas co. a drill site in their section?

I don't think it's unusual for an operator to have a surface location in a section that they do not hold the unit orders for, as long as they lateral into their own unit.

What have you all heard about Sec. 21(15/ 14). We have reserved minerals there. CRUMMY haynesville well that was an east west lateral. Keep hearing rumors that there is a major fault line in that little area, but now the adjacent sections are getting wells so that is encouraging

Chesapeake Operating submitted a Haynesville unit application dated 3/24/10, a Baton Rouge hearing on the application was held 5/4/10, and field order No. 191-H-104 dated 6/7/10 designated T15N-R14W-S20 as Haynesville Zone, Reservoir A, Unit HA RA SU156.  If anyone learns of a well permit for Sec 20 please post the info here.  I believe there were some leases on properties in Sec 20 during the peak activity in 2008 that may be about to expire sometime next year.  Perhaps expiring leases and the fact that horizontal wells are permitted (Sec 29), currently being drilled (Sec 17) or already in production (Sec 18 & 19) in all 4 sections surrounding Sec 20 may result in drilling soon.  Attached here are files for the unit application, hearing notice and field order for Sec 20.

I think section 20 is HBP. Not sure unit HA RA SU156 was created, SONRIS GIS map does not show it.

 

Maybe some of the GHS experts can help with field order No. 191-H-104.

The GIS map is a poor source for HA D&P Unit orders.  The forming of units does not necessarily portend near term drilling, but it could.  In regard to Section 20, I also think that it is Held By Production.  The Pet RA SUF encompasses the entire section and the producing Pet well holds all leases not containing a depth clause.  The important order in this case is 191-C, Docket # 76-140.

I have a couple of questions regarding (Means 29 H #1):

1. will the well logs indicate Bossier Shale if it exists?

2. are the well logs published somewhere or proprietary info?

1.  Yes

2.  Maybe.  Many are uploaded to SONRIS Classic as part of the well file but the operator may choose to petition the Office of Conservation to let them delay providing a copy of the log.

The above comments are general in nature and not specific to the Means 29H #1.

Looks they are cutting a road east off of Highway 171 and just south of the Texaco station That has to be very south end of sec. 20

Petrohawk is going to drill 15n 14w sec29 from 15n 14w sec20.  The pad will be located south of the Shell station (old Texaco) and east of Hwy 171 where kittycatmama says the new road is going in. 

Chesapeake is the operator for 15n 14w sec20 and currently has a well on Rambin road drilling sec20. Nice to see the activity in this area just wish gas prices would go up. Good Luck to everyone!
