Is there anyone familiar with Steven or Hunter Smith from Ruston? They are seeking to get leases in Columbia Co., Ark.

talked to a ruston landman, i believe it was mr. smith, about 75 days ago...........not much lease bonus, not much royalty, thats understandable, not much area activity..............BUT..............no information as to potential project.............asked for a copy of lease be mailed to me..........still waiting
Was he asking about land in Columbia Co.? He's offering 1/8th RI and 1/16th OR, $150 per net mineral acre bonus. It doesn't seem like a fair offer even it there is no activity in the area.
i believe the offer was $75 and acre with 1/6 royalty.............maybe that's all it was worth..................but i would hope not..............yes columbia co...........we could have at least talked with your offer...................they will probably take an OR and some $s and sell leases to the smart guys with $s.
Okay, what do you know? Should I deal with them or what? I'd appreciate any info. you can provide. Thanks!

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
