Attached is the latest on prices received by landowners in the Haynesville Shale.  It's been a while since I posted, and I will continue to collect data and try to update the survey every 3 - 6 months.  Thanks to all of you who submit pricing information to me.

Maybe Katie McCullin can give us some answers on this $1.27 price for February 2012

Things are starting to come unglued in Oklahoma City!

I'd bet a dollar to a donut that isn't the price McClendon gets paid on his 2 1/2 percent that gets sold.

Reputation is big part of your success or failure.

A neighbor just dropped by (her son works in oil field related job  but she clueless)  in conversation about someone who works on rigs she stated she had heard that Cheasapeak might fold.  I told her  no they have billions in assets..just that there some pressure on stocks and some internal stuff going on.

But the thing is here is someone who simply not involved and she thinks from talk that they going down.

So gossip only? Yes.. But if management doesn't do some things fast to curtail the talk and speculation (I don't mean on this site..I mean out in the households who have members doing the real grunt work on rigs) then it will spiral down.

Kind of like Spirit Airlines.  yes they have no refund policy and the ticket was only $181 they didn't refund to the vet...but that failure to figure a PR way out of the bad publicity will tank their bottom line.  Over $181.  Happens.

Its all in the way you deal.  My husband had heart attack at boarding gate of Continental Airlines on return from a trip.  We held the cheapest tickets, no changes, all the rules.  But here is how the airline handled it:  A rep called me several times while I was at hospital with him checking on his condidtion.  They said that when he could travel we could use our tickets.  They put us in First Class and contacted us to check on his condition after we returned to Dallas.  I never expected anything like that and from then on as long as they operated we were loyal to Continental.

If I ran Spirit I would have a slush fund for situations like this guy presented.

Remember when Mrs. Helmsley told her employee that only the little people pay taxes?  Opps.  Jail time followed.

So first thing is damage control for Cheasapeak.  I have no idea what their corporate situation is.  But I do know how to deal with problems and people while I am in business.

And the area owes them big time...that's a fact.

Krkyoldhag,

You said, "no they have billions in assets."  While that is true, don't forget they also have billions in debt that is getting harder and harder to service.

Sorry about your husband's heart attack, but it's a nice story about Continental.  I liked them too.  We hear too few stories about corporations that act like real people.

Has anyone heard anymore about the SEC investigations?  I haven't read anything in several months. That could be really dragging the stock market price down - if investors sense that the SEC is going to hammer CHK.

Did anyone reach out to CHK requesting written documentation on how they came up with there calculation for the February 2012 Gas Price? A 30 per cent plus difference from previous months....

Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Henry, JS, Fellow GHShalers,

In March, I asked fellow GHShalers if they would post info per nat gas well shut-ins.  No one responded.  CHK was soooo late with my well documentation that I thought there was a good chance it had been "shut-in."  No it was not shut in.  It produced for Feb. 2012, 55,530.96 mmcf.

On Feb. 2012 gross sales, CHK shows $2.02/mcf on CHK revenue check for same.

Feb. 2012 CHK "netting expenses/charges," aka lease expenses, were 23.49%.

Feb. 2012 CHK "compression expenses/charges" were 4.60%

Feb. 2012 CHK "gathering expenses/charges" were 22.07%

Feb. 2012 CHK "fuel expenses/charges" were .00%

Feb. 2012 CHK "total expenses/charges" were 50.16%... of my Feb. 2012 CHK revenue check.

Feb. 2012 CHK "net $/mcf" were approx. $1.013/mcf... On my CHK Feb. 2012 revenue check.

I am an Unleased Mineral Owner in a CHK Haynesville Shale nat gas unitized section in Caddo Parish, LA.

It looks like CHK mineral owners aren't the only pawns in Mr. Chesapeake's game of chance...

One thought...  Chesapeake Energy et al should be at the pinnacle of all U.S. O&G Companies/stocks.

They should have put away the cash and planned for the worst case scenario.  Instead they played with the cash and planned for nothing.  IMO.  And now they have to sell off their crown jewels...

Nat gas @$2.584...

It looks like CHK's only saving grace just may be the product they want to get away from...  Nat Gas.  Nat Gas @ $4 might just be their only "ace in hole"... so to speak.

Deep Fried By CHK...

P.S.  If I were a CHK royalty receiver...  Feb. 2012 CHK gathering & compression charges/expenses totaled approx. 26.67%, or approx. $.54/mcf, netting approx. $1.48/mcf (to me).

Please excuse the "crown jewels" underlined web "shopping link" thing...????  Not of my doing.

At least crown jewels didn't flip to family jewels, lol.

John, I sent an e-mail to CHK asking for an explanation of the Feb. $1.27 and they have chosen not to respond thus far.
