I heard that there is a classaction lawsuit being filed against Brown Builders that will effect many neighborhoods around the area such as Southgate, Northgate and Golden Meadows to name a few...Does anyone have any info about the lawsuit? From what I understand they own all the mineral rights for approx 9 or 10 neighborhoods in the area..Has anyone else heard of this situation?

i have confused nothing.i have noticed all the help showed for one
another AFTER the MONEY started flowing,and made no mistake, all this help/share are about one thing;how to get more MONEY out of the o/g
companies.all of this is about the MONEY.i have no problem with that,
but quit whining.and you should be on a site wth the actors,so you can
help your fellow man with your ray of sunshine and helping hand.
Hello Mr. Walker , It isn't easy to admit ones mistakes , even if they are ours to admit. Any chance a person feels that they have ,to right a wrong choice, should certainly be considered . If someone buy's something under false pretenses , don't you feel you have the right to try to get what you purchased. It certainly could be viewed as spilled milk by some , but we just try to be as supportive as we can.

On a personal note , I am not sure that I fully agree with this suit. You are correct that we should be responsible for our own actions.But if the actions of others in a possition or responcibility do something that adversely affect us, this is the process by which we try to gain recourse.

If it is shown that the realtors did something inappropriate , they should be held accountable. If the Brown group did something inappropriate , then they should be held accountable. Doing something unethical doesn't make it illegal. If this is the case then I am sure that this is how they will be found. We have to hope our justice system will work for us all the time ,every time, even if it doesn't.

I also feel pain for our neighbors that were caught unaware in the beginning. Was it illegal ? Probably not . Was it nasty ? You betcha ! If it were me and I saw the guy walking down the street that clipped me for that kinda' dough! Look out! With your sunny disposition , I dare say you may feel the same way.
Sometimes being wealthy doesn't always work to your advantage.It certainly didn't in our town Mr. Walker. Do we not show pitty ? I believe we should.
His opinion isn't the most popular I understand this...however... he does make valid points.

I pray that God will be as sympathetic with you as you are to your neighbors and fellow Louisiana residents. Calling people names is uncalled for. Legally Brown Builders had ever right to retain mineral rights, but should they not have disclosed this to buyers? That is the question that requires answering.

I would start asking questions at the Northwest LA Homebuilders Assoc., where Brown Builders is a member. Go to the Board of Realtors. Go to the Better Business Bureau. Start making noise.
As outsiders looking in , we should always try to assume one is not guilty of any wrong doing. It isn't human nature to see the good in everything , but the bad. Thats just the way it is . If someone hasn't done something illegal and you have dragged them through this process , how do they ever get that process off their backs. It isnt fair . If these people can prove some wrong doing , then they may be justified in their attempt. If not....... then nobody has won.
i, agree,if they were told they got the minerals all bets are off.i know
two savey large tract owners who bought land had title searchs done,
atty,did'nt search back but 3or4 owners,turns out state of LA. had
seized land for back tax,state never gives up minerals or(fed govt).
I have not read the suit. I was referring to an interview I had seen with one of the landowners speaking. It was the landowner herself that contended that she was told by the real estate agent that the mineral rights were going to be included with the property purchased.
If the seller didn't own the minerals, how could he reserve the minerals in the deed?
as a side note to this... If land is expropriated by the state the ex-land owner can retain minerals for life. The minerals can then be inherited.
