Skip, several years ago property was leased by Comstock in Sec.32 , 10W, 14N. The bottom fell out as you know. On Sonris CHK was listed as the  operator. Time ran out on the permit, the well was never drilled. The lease ran out and Comstock filed the necessary papers to release the property when the lease was up. The property has been unleased now for maybe 2 yrs. This property is in Desoto in the Benson section. Do the owners need to advertise the availability of this section for lease or do the companies automatically know?

Since 14N - 10W is in Red River Parish I think you must mean 10N - 14W, which is in the Converse Field, DeSoto Parish.  If that is the case, there is an EOG Well (HA RA SUT;Red River 32H #1) that was drilled in Section 32 from a surface location in Section 29 in late 2011.  Here's a link to that well:

How do you know that Comstock recorded a Release for your property?

I am so sorry, section 32, 11N, and 14w. It is in the Benson section. A certified letter was sent to Comstock asking them to send a release. The reply was that it had been filed at the courthouse. No one has checked at the courthouse that I am aware. I guess that needs to be checked into.

If a release has been filed, should the owners market their availability or just keep on waiting?

If a release is on file in the public record that is all the evidence needed for an interested party to determine the lease status of your mineral interest. I suggest you get a copy from the Clerk of Court for your records.

Thank you so much Skip

You're welcome, Jo Ann.
