The Clean Vehicle Education Foundation in partnership with the Greater Shreveport-Bossier Clean Cities Coalition is excited to hold a one-day workshop at the Shreveport Convention Center on January 22 on “The Compelling Case for Natural Gas Vehicles.” This workshop can help educate you on the benefits of using clean, affordable, abundant and AMERICAN natural gas as a transportation fuel.
Americans overwhelmingly agree that energy policy is on the wrong track and that we need energy security for our country. American drivers currently only have two choices of fuel – gasoline or diesel, most of which is imported from foreign countries purchased with billions of our dollars per year. Natural gas is poised to play a pivotal role in bringing about a more rational energy outlook starting with compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles and fueling stations.
The Haynesville Shale is potentially the largest natural gas field in the United States. This is the age of natural gas and Louisiana can assume a leadership role in the use of CNG in vehicles for cleaner air, energy security and continued investment in the Haynesville Shale.

One-day workshop focuses on natural gas vehicles

The Clean Vehicle Education Foundation, in partnership with the Clean Cities Coalitions of Arkansas, east Texas and Louisiana, will host a one-day workshop on Natural Gas Vehicles on Jan. 22 at the Shreveport Convention Center.
Stephe Yborra, a recognized expert in NGV markets and technologies, will lead the workshop.
"Cleaner air, investment in our country's energy security and lower costs are all compelling reasons for fleet operators to make the shift to natural gas," Yborra said in a news release Wednesday. "We are pleased to offer our first workshop of 2009 in Shreveport-Bossier City, in the heart of the Haynesville Shale natural gas field."
The workshop targets public and private fleet operators, clean-air and clean-transportation policymakers and the general public.
Registration is $45 until Jan. 19 and $55 thereafter.
"We are very excited to collaborate with other Clean Cities Coalitions in co-hosting this NGV Workshop with CVEF," said Wes Wyche, chairman of the Greater Shreveport-Bossier Clean Cities Coalition, in a prepared statement. "Natural gas is a key fuel for the future as our air quality standards are tightened and sources of imported oil diminish. The timing of the workshop could not be better as a new Administration takes office in Washington and our leaders look to other sources of greener energy."
The seminar is a four-state effort hosted by CVEF in partnership with the Greater Shreveport-Bossier Clean Cities Coalition, Greater Baton Rouge Clean Cities, Southeast Louisiana Clean Fuel Partnership, Louisiana Department of Natural Resources, East Texas Clean Cities Coalition and Central Arkansas Clean Cities Coalition.
