I live about a mile south of Sligo Road in South Bossier Parish. A couple of years ago we received a letter from a lawyer representing Chesapeake stating there would be a meeting discussing drilling in our area. When I replied to the letter I received a phone call from the lawyer, asking what I wanted to know, since he said I was the only one who responded. I simply stated I wondered what was going on with all the drilling. Since my ex husband and I own our four acres together, he wanted to talk to him. They spoke once, and after that he stopped returning our phone calls.

Last year we received a check for $3000 from a company in Fort Worth, asking to purchase our mineral rights. Of course we didn't cash it, even though they sent us another one shortly after.

Since that time all of this Haynesville Shale news has broken loose. I still have the letters we received from Chesapeake, but they are simply confusing maps of grids that make no sense to me.

My neighbor across the street apparently also spoke with that lawyer two years ago and leased his mineral rights for about $250/acre. He has additional land in our neighborhood, and says he was recently offered $8000.

My concern is this: a man going door to door about putting in a water system said that no one in this neighborhood owns their mineral rights. He insisted that Chesapeake bought them all in the 1930's and has continually drilled since then.

I have not been approached by anyone in two years, and wonder what's happened. Are we in force-pooling?

My neighbors are not very chatty (except the one who leased) and I can't find anyone else on here who lives in my area. (off Jamerson) We have a lot of wells in this neighborhood that were drilled in just the past two years.

Anyone out there live in my area and know what's going on?

I've looked at Sonris and it seems that you have several wells that are plugged and abandoned, but you do have a few that are under Temporay Inactive and one that's Shut-in Production. To my knowledge the one that's Shut-in Production is just waiting for a pipeline to get the product from the well site. Worst case is that you are held in by production. I'm not an expert, I am only offering an opinion.
Thanks Terry...I realize none of us are experts. You've all been an enormous help! I've learned a lot today.
