Biomass Power Generates Traction. Tree-burning power plants would be good for area tree farmers.

The potential for government quotas is a major reason why electric utilities in the Southeast and parts of the Midwest are now beginning to build industrial-scale plants that burn wood and other plant material -- or "biomass." The utilities also stand to get significant federal tax credits for producing renewable energy.

Sounds like another great idea. Come to think of it... why don't we burn our food too...?
If they divert enough crop land to biomass instead of food, that's what they will be doing. I'm sure it will pay a lot better than 'taters (unless they figure out how to burn them too and then taters'll cost $10 or $15 a lb. if you decide you want to bake one) what with all the "GREEN" subsidies we will be throwing at them.
