Jaybird. Please add the Haynesville Formation to the Claiborne list. The Haynesville zone underlies most of north LA. from Mississippi to Texas. In Claiborne Parish the Haynesville is sand as opposed to shale. However, as with other sand formations, it will be productive in certain discrete areas. There are numerous productive HA wells across northern Bossier, Webster and Claiborne. Claiborne Parish GHS members may wish to track Hunt Oil's HA RB well in Section 27 - 23N - 7W (Serial #239716) which spudded May 27.

In the wells above that I noted...what does the SUF, SUE, SUB, SUA and SUY stand for? I have always seen those descriptions in a well but I have no idea what that means.

The Moak Well well serial # 237957 is obviously the "best" of these wells at 171809 MCF production for the month of April. I would take a well like that any day of the month!

There are more wells in Claiborne Parish obviously, but I didn't have time to list all of them.

Jaybird. The abbreviations you mention stand for "Sand Unit" A, B, C, or 1, 2, 3 etc. in a particular field, each unit is designated in this manner. For example, Section 20 - T15N - 15W in the Bethany-Longstreet Field is HA RA SU67. Haynesville Reservoir A Sand Unit 67.

On another note, although HA unit applications have been made for Reservoirs A, B, C & D, it is actually the same reservoir. In other formations, Cotton Valley being a good example, the different reservoir designations actually correspond to different producing strata within the overall formation. This is usual for sand formations.

You are right, the Moak well is one heck of well. It has produced right at 1BCF gas in the first 6 months. It has produced two more months which has not been reported on Sonris yet which will probably put it at around 1.3 BCF gas in 8 months. And it production appears to be holding up really good. I wish we could all get us one like that!

1.3 BCF....yeah, I would take that for 8 months delivery! Sklar has a couple more wells permitted with one well Serial # 239393 "Waiting on Completion" since 3/19/09. Looking forward to that well too.

We will see if we can find out what that one is making. I may take a ride out there in the next day or two.
Please do! The Moak well in Range 6W is very close to our land. The well Serial # 239393 is in the section 34 below the Moak Well in section 27.

In Range 6W the sections 21,22,23,24,25,31,32,35,36 have not been drilled yet. It will be interesting to see when they drill or if that land is even leased yet.

We will try to get a complete list of current activity in the parish, maybe on a field by field basis. And maybe try to keep a check on them as possible.

I would think that having land near the Moak would be great.
Is 4 miles from the Moak well considered "Near"? :o)

That's if each section is one mile. I'm not sure.

Jaybird. Yes, each section is a mile square. As you will be dealing with sand formations, the closer the better. No rule of thumb applies as aerial extent is determined by the fault or capping formation that collects and traps the hydrocarbons.

I wouldn't mind being 4 miles from the Moak.
Sure, it is no guarantee, but better to be 4 miles than 10 miles.
These sand plays can vary drastically from unit to adjoining unit, but I would always rather be close to the good ones.
