Me, too, Keith. Right now we're hearing a lot, you don't know what's factual and what isn't. I felt like my heart was in my throat watching the balloon flying so fast and so high.

The search has been called off for a 6-year-old Fort Collins boy who was thought to have been in a large helium balloon that escaped from its tether at his home in Fort Collins.

I'm glad he's O.K. - his parents are calmer people than I would have been under the circumstances! LOL! I'd probably be hysterical for a week!!

Times have changed.....I wouldn't have been able to sit for a week had I been that kid. I'm glad the child is safe, just that all those police chasing the balloon expecting to find him. Ouch, times have changed!

This interview has a funny smell to it also, essay! LOL! From today's Shreveport Times:

During a live interview with CNN, Falcon said he had heard his family calling his name.

"You did?" his mother asked.

"Why didn't you come out?" Richard Heene said.

Falcon answered, "You had said that we did this for a show."

Heene told NBC his son was confused by the question, being only 6 years old, and had shown television reporters his hiding spot, confusing that with a show.

This shows why

1) You never let the kids talk to the media if there's any chance of you getting blamed for something.

2) You never talk to the police if there's any chance of you getting blamed for anything.

3) You never let a kid help you with a big lie. (Not saying this one was a lie, but never expect a kid to lie convincingly.)

4) Never try to pull off a publicity stunt. (Not saying that this was one, but don't try to do it.)

I'm a little surprised the cops didn't search the house a little more thoroughly. Even I thought about searching the attic.

On the news this morning, it was brought out that this family had participated in one of those reality shows called "Wife Swap," I think. lol The little boy was also asked about a comment he made (he was showing news reporters where he had hidden) about how he thought they (the family?) were filming all of this for a TV show. The father did a majority of the talking, and answered many of the questions directed to the little boy. I'm glad government employees took action so quickly, that the child is, more importantly, safe & sound. Only time will tell as more comes out. :0)

I hope they bill the family for all the work the law enforcement and rescue teams put in.

Baron - Yes, it cost the taxpayers money, but I would say that to ensure the safety of a child we spare no expense. Maybe have the parents (if there are allegations that prove true) do some major community service hours?
