Yes. We have discussed a pre-application notice letter for units in 9N - 10W but they have not as yet shown up on the Commissioner's public hearing schedule so I have not included them in the Snapshot map. I expect to be able to shade in 9N - 10W very soon. Unit applications are a "leading indicator" of development interest by operators. It is normal for units to be formed well in advance of actual wells being drilled. And only completed wells can establish the prospective nature of an area for productive shale. Obviously operators would not lease land and form units if they weren't willing to follow up with wells to "prove up" that leasehold acreage. I believe that 2010 will see enough wells drilled to determine if 9N - 14-10W are in the core or a secondary tier.
Thank you for the information, I really appreciate it!

Lutty
any idea what sections in 11N 9 W? Thanks
S9 - Petrohawk. Encana - S19,20,28-30,23/38,39/40/41/42/43,33,34/39,35/37/39/43. This is one of the townships with irregular sections numbering more than 36. A number of the units contain all or portions of multiple sections particularly the irregular ones with numbers greater than 36.
Do you have any info on section 4 particularly?
No.
How does one read this snapshot? I remember a previous posting sorting out the details.
It is the number of HA (Haynesville Zone) Drilling & Production Units in each township. The majority of townships contain 36 sections (there are exceptions) and the majority of units are 1 section (~640 acres, also with exceptions). The Snapshot map is a leading indicator of how the boundaries of the Play are expanding. I maintain a much more detailed spreadsheet covering which sections are under unit order and to what operator as part of my land business. I also use it as a quick reference guide to answer questions for members.
How does one read the Township/Unit information from your Snapshot? Thank you for the other info.
Michele. The answer is in my response immediately above yours.
OK, thank you. So what do the numbers at the far left and top sides mean?
The vertical column of numbers on the left are the township numbers. The row across the top are the range numbers. To find township 12N - 12W, for example, you come down the left hand column to 12 and then go right across that row until you intersect the 12 column from the top.
