OK, thank you very much.
You are welcome. It is always a good idea to know and use the section-township-range location of your mineral estate when asking questions. It makes it easier for other to help you. And it is invaluable when using the state database, SONRIS. You can find information on the database in the SONRIS Help Center Group page. Good Luck.
Do you have any info on section 4 particularly?
OK, so I'm map ignorant. I know we are in Township 17, Range 10 in Webster parish, but don't know if the pink areas on the map are the townships or ranges? Can you explain? Blessings
The squares are townships. Those that are shaded in pink are the ones that have at least one Haynesville (HA) Drilling & Production Unit in the shale play. The number in each square represents the number of drilling units (usually a section) in the township. The standard township (not all are) has 36 sections. Therefore those with 36 units are fully unitized.
Skip, great job! Do you have/know of anything like this map for East Texas? (In particular Harrison and Panola counties)

Thanks,

kcc
KCC, No. Unfortunately Texas land is divided into surveys, not townships. And the Texas Railroad Commission does not have a comprehensive and user-friendly database comparable to SONRIS. Whenever I need information on the E. TX. portion of the Haynesville Shale Play, I ask jffree1.
Thanks
Steven, Forest Oil holds the unit order for the Haynesville Zone in S6 - 14N - 9W. A unit order allows the company to operate or to designate the operator. In this case it appears that Forest has designated Encana as the operator of the HA Unit. Forest likely assigned the deep rights to Encana and received an override and other considerations for doing so. The vertical wells you mention are not HA wells. They are Hosston and Cotton Valley wells which still show Forest as the operator as Forest likely still holds the development rights to the shallow formations in this section.
thanks for the information. That clears up what is going on with our unit. One last question. Does this area in your opinion have both the haynesville shale and the bossier shale as two different formations? And will they at some point drill in both formations for a total of sixteen wells? Just trying to find out as much information as I can for my family. We own an eighty split into three equal parts. Thanks for the help. I read yours and Les's discussions regulary.
Those two questions are better answered by Les B. I think. 14N - 9W likely has Bossier potential but I do not know its location relative to the few BO horizontals announced to date.
Skip, I know this was not the last map you put out but would it be possible to get one current....Thanks
