Excellent suggestion.

"Posting Suggestion

A good post, in the forum, goes beyond the pasting of a link. In order to save people the time of clicking on the link, copy a portion of the column or article being referenced. Additionally, providing your thoughts/opinions on the article is highly encouraged."
Agreed, Bacon. It is also a good suggestion to review the Main Page before posting a new discussion topic. One at a time is sufficient.
Would it be possible to suggest to site users a standard format for identifying sections? It would make searches much more efficient. As in: S1 1N 1W. Just a thought.
I also have a hard time finding the search feature. I would be nice for that to be visible at all times. But that might be harder to change.
Thanks,
Gayle
Gayle, section-township-range is the best in my opinion but as long as S-N-W are used for the NW. LA. portion of the play, it should be understandable. Have you been to the SONRIS Help Center group page?

Skip, I get around the SONRIS database pretty well now. But I'm talking about the forum. Some people spell out section, some use hyphens, others don't. Sometimes spacing varies.
So to search for a discussion by section, all the options have to be searched individually. It helps when a well's name is available, but only if you're looking for a particular well. I generally use the format S2 11N 16W (or whatever). Maybe the hyphens are standard, since that's what you show in your message. It would simplify things (for me, anyway) if we had one format.
Gayle. Most members who participate for some extended period of time eventually understand s-t-r. It is usually newbies who jump right in without investing any time in observing and searching archives that post puzzling location data. I doubt that will change. I think we will just have to live with it and try to teach as we go. No matter the order or hyphens, S (section), N (north) and W (west) make location understandable. One of the keys to getting along here is realizing that everyday there is someone new starting from scratch. I strive to keep that in mind.
Pop quiz on Friday. If you fail, it's detention on Monday. Who has detention duty then???? (Contact me for the "no fail method" of passing this quiz.) lol 80)

AND you get to administer the pop quizes, score them manually (no ScanTrons allowed), input the scores to the database, check it for reliability & validity, then disaggregate & analyze the data. With one hand tied behind your back. No pink highlighters allowed. Turn around time is 24 hours (we aim to beat SONRIS' lag time). You can sign up for all the days/hours your little heart desires. HA!
