What is the nearest town that this fault was found?

The location of the drill site is 2 miles south of the Webster-Bienville Parish lines 1 mile w of la371 8 miles n of Ringold

Just going by the unit orders, the upper half of 16N 9W is either operated by HK or XTO. This fault line has been known about for awhile. Last year HK and XTO fought over Sec 6 16N 9W. XTO was trying to add Sec 6 with half of Sec 7 to make a 960 acre unit. At that time they were speculating that the fault started in the middle of Sec 7 16N 9W and ran across Sec 8 angling down to the right top corner of Sec 17 and then dipped down into 16 and flattening out in Sec15. However since that time frame, the seismic survey has come in and both HK and XTO have paid for drill sites to only have to abandon them due to a fault line. From what I know.....my 2 cents...the fault line is causing problems only on the top of Sec 8 and across the top of Sec 9. As I know HK Sec 9 is to be drilled from Sec 16, no permit yet. XTO had a drillsite in the top of Sec 8 (next to HKs 240990) to be drilled south and that is being changed to drilled to the north. Just think of a fault line as a PIA that just has to be worked around. This is why allowing a seismic survey is important to landowners besides for o&g's. You sure don't want them to waste their time drilling a bad well. A fault line isn't going to stop them completely, they will find a work around.......different locations, shorter/longer laterals inside/outside the section, doing a loopty lou....whatever it takes. Now what I don't know is whether it is the 1 fault line(the one in Sec 7) or a second fault line that has been found causing a problem. Louisiana is full of faults.....

E&E Thanks for the info. I am actually located in Webster at T17N R9W S33 which is just N of T16N R9W Sec 4 in Bienville. You are right about the seismic people, Global has already ntfd us by phone that they were going to re-shoot the area. Hope they shoot N from T16N R9W Sec 4 right up to my back door
