I wanted to list STR in original post, but I am not sure. The sign doesn't indicate that info. I know it is near S11 T16N R12.

Missy, I don't see any permitted wells that match your description . Are these locations? Wells drilling? Completed wells?

Skip,
I don't know what is down the road where the signs are posted. The signs are the white plastic signs that Questar uses to write the names/info on before the official location signs are put up. One of them reads, Petrohawk #8 and I forget the # of the other one. That's the only info on the signs. One is located between Hwy 527 and the other is on Hwy 157. Thanks for info.

Missy, until we know more, I'm in agreement with The Baron. These are QEP wells in sections where HK owns the majority of the minerals. I am not saying that HK holds the majority of leased acres, I am saying Petrohawk likely owns the minerals.

Just to venture a guess, HK owns the minerals.... Remember, wells are named for the mineral owner...not the surface owner

That would be mine also, Baron. I'm asking Missy for the s-t-r out of curiosity for which holds the unit order. As you know Chesapeake and a few other companies, El Paso comes to mind, do own the minerals under some of their wells. If memory serves Chesapeake has some wells where El Paso Management owns the minerals. This would be the first that I have run across involving HK and QEP.

Please explain... Why would Chesapeake drill the well for El Paso? El Paso is certainly capable of drilling their own well....

Henry, I'm not too good a reading the minds of El Paso and Chesapeake. There could be a number of reasons. For example, El Paso owns 250 mineral acres and is the largest single mineral owner in a section, however CHK has the remaining ~390 acres under lease and holds the unit order. Therefore you get a Chesapeake well with the El Paso name on it.
