Depends on too many variables to give an educated WAG.  Although it has not been mentioned lately that I am aware of,  the drilling of ~1500 HA wells to date has and is producing a huge volume of science regarding shallower zones.  There's not a lot of economic reasons to drill shallower gas wells on acreage already Held By Production currently.  Joint development agreements like that of Indigo and Chesapeake may be quite common in the future.  And some units will have future HA, BO, CV and HO wells in production simultaneously all supported by the same infrastructure network.

too bad CHK and HK aren't logging a good portion of their wells. So in some cases we will never know what is shallower.

I've noticed CHK doing so in the Logansport Field but not elsewhere.  Is the practice more wide spread?  Is HK's decision to not log shallower formations location specific or pervasive?

What is Encana doing in sections 3, 9, & 16 R9N-T12W in Sabine Parish. 3 wells per section at 9 to 12 mil. each. They already have a great well in section 9, the Jimmy Brown, so it is HBP. I have land in section 8 and section 20 and would love 3 wells approved to be drilled at once.

Why settle for 9 to 12 mil. wells, richard. LOL! The existing wells are much better so hopefully these additional alternate unit wells will be as good if not better.  The Sistrunk Etux 3H may not list completion data but it has been tested and the test results are included in the SONRIS Well File.  16.227 MMcfd,  8587# Flowing Pressure on a 16/64" choke.  That's a far above average HA horizontal well.  I boggles the mind to imagine the gathering system capacity required to produce all these wells simultaneously.  I'd say you are in a very good spot.  Best of Luck to ya.

Why are the alt wells in sec 3, 9, and 2 of 3 in sec 16, t9 r12w not on sonris, just wondering where the times get there info

treeman, the Cotton Valley well that Indigo is preparing to drill in Section 23 of 15/15, on Walton land, is the 1st horizontal Cotton Valley well in T15N,R15W to my knowlege.  The nearest horizontal Cotton Valley completion to Section 23 of 15/15 is probably in T14N, R16W and was drilled by Goodrich Petroleum.

The times picks up new permits each week. not all permits make the paper.

 

In your case, it appears SWEPI is going to drill multiple wells at the same time. A permit is good for 6 months, or one year, depending on the time frame applied for. Drilling can begin at anytime during this period, and can continue for as long as there are contiuous operations

What is the situation with the two wells in Winn Parish - 0 gas 2 (3) barrels 21 gravity condensate - does this mean the wells are duds?

There are numerous small independents drilling similar wells in old fields throughout N. LA.  Caddo Pine Island Field in Caddo and Bellvue Field in Bossier come to mind,  These wells are extremely shallow oil producers, in the case of the two Winn Parish wells - 1200' and 1450'.  Not much more than a water well and cheap to drill and complete.  I suspect that if you looked up James Drilling in the database you would find that they have hundreds of similar wells.  They would be classed as "stripper" wells.

OLYMAN, both well permit and completion report data contained in The Times Sunday Oil & Gas News column comes from the paper records on file with the Louisiana Office of Conservation, District 6 office.  The reports are submitted, reviewed and approved before they are made public and entered into the database.  The first database locations that receive new information is the SONRIS Lite Scout Report section of the Well File.  There will be occasions where the data appears in the newspaper before it is posted to SONRIS Lite.
