How far back does the SONRIS info go ?

I have a copy of a oil and gas lease in hand that dates to 1985 with a well in production to date and cant find it.  I have tried to get the lease number through the GIS in minerals and it doesnt show ?

The whole purpose is to verify the mineral rights and lease of a peice of land im looking to purchase with minerals.

Any help would be apprieciated.

Lease numbers are used by energy companies, not by the Department of Natural Resources excepting the case of state owned lease tracts.  Look up the well by section-township-range and get the serial number with SONRIS Lite.  You can then use SONRIS Classic to view all the reports on file by searching Well Permit using the serial number and checking the box to get all the associated documents.

Skip thanks for your reply and help but i think the link in the help center is out dated or broken.  I cant find anything Unless i am a complete idiot wasting your time.

Rob, a lot of the links to the state mineral databases became non-functional due to a system redesign the first of the year.  Try this:

http://sonris.com/default.htm

Should take you to the SONRIS Welcome Page.  Click on "Data Access" and then "Lite" to go to the SONRIS Lite portion of the database.  Get the serial number of the well or wells you want to access.  Go back to the Welcome page and click on "Document Access" then on "Document Type" and select "Well Permit To Drill/Amend".  Enter the serial number and check the box for "Get Associated Documents".  Let me know if you need any further assistance.

That worked great !

More info than anyone needs there.

Looks like i will try to buy this property im looking at and request a title search with reference to mineral rights to make sure they will transfer to me as verbally stated. None of the deeds make reference to retaining the minerals so it looks to be in my favor.

Thanks for your help !

Rob
