This is a post being sent to anyone having info on a shale fprmation called brown dense. There is a company called PINE bELT WHO IS RUMORED TO BE LEASING
several 300 to 400,000 acres in two counties in Ark. and one ....Union Parish ,La.
Is anyone selling leases?? If so ,what is the going rate?
EOG is spin-off to the old Enron company.
This lease asctivity seems to on a hush-hush basis.
Does anyone think this might be as big as any of the other shale plays? Jim B.

any news on this well? thanks!

I personally saw this well site on Monday, July 18th,  and it is indeed well built, but there seems to have been no recent activity and no drilling equipment has been brought in.

We did, though, see some sort of survey or seismograph crew nearby.

Just a thought:  Might BHP Billiton be the one behind the mask in the Brown  Dense play?  No, I have no rumors.  Just a simple minded thought which might lead to rumors. Maybe someone who knows may come forth.

Easy now Aubrey.  You know it doesn't take much to set this bunch off.  By tomorrow every cafe and beauty shop will be full of gossip from "informed sources" that say BHP is behind the state line leasing.  LOL!  Or maybe not, some are already persuaded that it's really SWN.

"Or maybe not, some are already persuaded that it's really SWN"

I would say most put SWN as a likely candidate along with others such as EOG, CHK, Devon, Andadarko, Murphy.

Unlikely.  BHP is not known to become involved at the leasing stage.  Moreover, they would probably not be involved in a year long leasing project for a target that is not well defined if they were buying Petrohawk.  Trust me, their plate is about to be full in the Haynesville and Eagle Ford.  SWN is a good guess, and EOG is another betting favorite.  Those are as good as any, but it is being kept remarkably tight.

There is an assignment in the Columbia County Courthouse in which EOG assigned Columbia County leases to Pinebelt.

Polly,

Did they assign all the leases to Pinebelt or just a few? I'm sure O&G companies trade leases all the time so it could just be a trade or it could be that Pinebelt took them all.

Please double check your information.  There would be no reason for EOG to assign to Pinebelt (a broker).  I suspect the assignment was from Pinebelt to EOG.  That would perhaps settle the speculation about who is behind the huge Brown dense play.

Thanks.

If the company wanted to remain anonymous then they would instruct the broker to make the assignment into their name. It happens all the time. I am sure EOG knows who the player is, or they wouldn't have granted the assignment.
Once again, EOG didn't assign leases to Pinebelt.  EOG is a producer that explores.  Pinebelt is a lease broker  - a hired guy that simply buys leases as an agent, then assigns them to the client.  If Pinebelt recorded an assignment of numerous leases to EOG, that would mean EOG is the client.
Polly Ann Foote states above that EOG asssigns to Pinebelt. Are you saying that MS Foote is incorect? Once again brokers take assignments from companies all the time. You don't have to be an operator to have leases assigned to you. They can assign Two Dogs their leases. Sure they probably have an agreement that Pinebelt will assign the leases to an operator that is experienced enought to drill a  Brown Dense well but EOG respects the operators wishes to remain anonymous.
