Nobody has mentioned this well, which appears to be somewhat of a sleeper.  Although Nelson/Pryme have drilled wells in this field about 5-6 miles to the NE, it will be interesting to see what Anadarko can do!

Dominique No. 1, Serial No. 243229.  This well is right on the St. Landry/Avoyelles line and is most certainly a unit well for the  AUS C RB SUA, North Bayou Jack Field.

TD is shown as 23,200' and it is currently drilling at 14,178' on 6/27.

This is a really important well for N. Bayou Jack and Moncrief fields, including acreage in NE St. Landry, SW Avoyelles and on into Pointe Coupee.

My family owns land in the immediate vicinity, so I'm praying this is a barn-burner!

No more, just the report of high traffic in and out.
TMS Boundaries Expanding? See "Potential Play Outline" Map. Seems to me it's expanding a bit further south. It's interesting to note that there's an abundance of fields clustered on or near the southern boundary. It would seem more logical if they were nearer to the mid-points of the play. Are they destined to become the new mid-point? Related Article

OS,

The key to this is the LK Shelf or Edwards Reef. The formations build GREATLY on and below the shelf. That's why you see more fields on the southern boundary.

hey guys where can i view potential play map in more westward presentation... i have interest in evangeline parish.

1. Go to Kirk's site - Amelia Resources. He may have maps available. Post a question directly to him in one of the comment areas.

2. Start following the Eagle Ford threads. Some of the maps there are getting close to LA. I take some of that information and interpolate it along the Shelf. So Its important to know where you are on the shelf - below, on or above. If you know that you can follow the trend from each end and connect the dots in your area. Also, of note: Kirk's maps of the Trend are the best I have found.

Posting results from State Lease Sale; 09-14-2011. I'm also posting a crude corresponding map that shows new leases in the general proximity of the Dominique 27. Everything is approximate/SWAG. Please take these with a HUGE grain of salt, as I'm sure Magellan won't loose any sleep over these. Interpolate/speculate per your own devices.

what does a tight hole mean ?

A well that the operator requires be kept as secret as possible, especially the geologic information. Exploration wells, especially rank wildcats, are often designated as tight. Unfortunately, this designation is of questionable benefit in keeping the data secret.
If the first Dominique well proves successful, would additional wells be considered for the unit, or would the operator put wells in surrounding units? (Or both?)
Successful early wells will induce operators to form additonal units and drill unit wells across their leasehold.  Often referred to as retention drilling.  Full development drilling is a secondary phase that usually occurs after an operator has retain all or most of their leased acreage.  Retention drilling characterized the fist 18 months of the Haynesville Play.  Operators with smaller leasehold began full development in early 2010.  Those with larger leasehold and continuing step out leasing commitments have only recently transitioned to full development.  EnCana/SWEPI in the Spring, Chesapeake several months back and Petrohawk in the last 30 or so days.  This progression will likely be repeated in the emerging plays.  There will be one major difference.  The price of natural gas left some prospective areas undeveloped in the Haynesville.  Oil plays should not experience that economic limiting factor.

Skip,

The only problem I see with what you are saying is: These companies that have established large (1280 to almost 2000 acres) units down here in the Austin Chalk have not done any development drilling in them. Those units that were established back in the 90's are still single well units with only now Alt wells beginning to be drilled. My problem is I have to take that into account when I'm leasing. After 20 years or so the production is minimal and yet the unit is still large and the leases are held. So it seems to me that the operators are holding large blocks with minimal production on acreage that could be developed further.

I agree
