I was at a lunchen today with a speech given by a VP from Petrohawk. It was an infomative talk about the HA. He did say that the Hawk and CHK are partnering up on some wells, and are trying to work together instead of creating competion in the leasing game.

I don't see the small players having much luck getting in since the big guys have spoiled the land owners. That's probably what the big companies planned in the first place, huh?

I mean the big boys didn't have to buy all the acreage, just enough to get the L/Os to not sell to the little guys!
The big boys have also tanked a lot of proposed drilling by the small independents. Not HA drilling, but the less lucrative cotton valley, hosston, etc..

The high lease prices in the market today have made many of these deals unworkable.

The loser is the small independants and the royalty owner.
KB, thanks for continuing to bring up, acknowledge and preach the "force pooling" message. It would apparently be ignored and overlooked if you and others didn't persist in reminding some of the folks that it is the little man's recourse.

To those that seem to be propotents and in favor of CHK or others being able to grab what they want and ignore the rest, you seem to think that the companies are abiding by LA RS Mineral codes and honoring the guidelines for operator treatment of unleased landowners. Well, I can personally testify that it's the case. And to be critical of small landowners because they feel they deserve their mineral revenue is wrong.

Everyone should realize by now that there are numerous landowners that were force pooled without ever receiving a decent offer, unless you call $300.00 for what Aubrey said was worth $30,000.00, a decent offer. Many act like those landowners should not be concerned nor worry, these trustworthy O&G's will soon come running to your door with your equitable share of the well production because they are so good and trustworthy they would NEVER disregard the laws. WELL, you are wrong!! I and many like me are seeing how well they are going to communicate with and honor the 100% unleased portion landowner.

After receiving my certified letter on Oct 28, Kevin McCotter himself called my home the next day and acknowledged receipt of the letter and assured me they were gonna get right on my information and would be back with me in haste. Two days later, Sarie Joubert, CHK Shreveport also called, acknowledging the same letter and assuring me they were checking into my questions and would be back in touch with me within 1-2 weeks, that was 3 weeks ago and of course, I have heard nothing else from them. However, after the next two business days, they will receive further insight on my interest in them getting off their a$$es and honoring the state codes and involving me in the process. Part of my point is that an unleased landowner that is unleased by no doings of his own should not have to pay attorney fees and jump through hoops to get these companies to honor what the codes outline for them to abide by.

If you drive around south Caddo and north DeSoto, it will be obvious that alot of wells have been drilled and alot are being drilled and I am fairly sure that there are numerous small landowners like myself that are in this same unintentionally unleased situation; so I predict that we will be hearing much more about how these companies are failing to provide information to and honor codes pertaining to the unleased landowner.
Why not just lease to someone besides CHK. Then CHK will have to deal with them, you get the lease you want. Everyone wins.

Unless of course you are trying to stop progress.

In that case you might try chaining yourself to the wellhead.
Wait, does that mean you will not be chaining yourself to the wellhead?

Darn, and I just put new batteries in the camera.... :(
Is your comment supposed to be funny or mean Baron? The Stone Age might not be a bad idea, at least we wouldn't worry about leases & compressor fires like the one in Godley the other day.
Just starvation, disease, pest, parasites, finding shelter, and hoping you don't get eaten by a bear or Mountain lion.

You want live in the stone age, go ahead.

I'm going to drive my car to a climate controled bar and have a mass produced beer
Sounds like you were born & raised in the Stone Age. You didn't answer my question.
No, born and raised in Shreveport.

I do not have mean intentions, maybe a sick sense of humour.

I am tired of the constant "evil oil and gas people led me a stray. The oil and gas people mislead me" whining.

KB has proved herself to be a highly intelligent, sofisticated person on this site. I find it hard to believe that any landman could mislead her. It seems that somtimes she gets carried away on a crusade for more regulation and reform of the mineral code.
Yeah I was born & raised in Shreveport too..in the Bronze Age....I think KB has great intentions..helping to educate some of us & maybe inform the evil oil & gas people (there are some) all is not about what they want. BTW thanks for answering my question.
KB, I love the corporate and beauty queen retreads thing. I was just thinking the same thing about Sarie. But you forget, she does have a legitimate connection to Oil & Gas. Her sister was a car salesman!!!
Baron, in my case, I didn't stop nor try to stop progress. I was just a small acreage owner in a section that has only 4-5 other landowners, so all they needed was the 2 major acreage owners to lease to have enough land in the section to drill. Those owners leased to a company in 2005 and that company flipped the lease to CHK. I don't begrudge the other landowners rights or ablility to lease and I am glad that the well is drilled and waiting on completion, but I think I have a right to at least be contacted and told what is going on and what to expect.

And considering I did what the codes required me to do and spent $11.00 to mail 2 letters to let them know my concerns, I would appreciate them following the codes, which the state doesn't enforce, and allowing me my right to recover my equitable share of the production. I am not in a big hurry and they still have some time, according to the codes, to follow through. I have initiated the process and they have signed for and received certified letters of intent, I have the recorded voices of 2 of their Shreveport office representatives saying the letters were received and they intend to get back with me; I will patiently watch the proceedings and stand by prepared to use legal action to acquire my portion.
I won't use my body nor a chain to block progress for others, but I certainly won't sit idley by and let CHK or HK or the KKK or anyother K run over me and not pay me my part. I didn't ask them to come into my section and drill but I certainly didn't try to stop them and I also won't cower down to them and run scared. I don't care how big or rich or powerful they are.
