EOG has filed for there first new drill in Houston County. Jim Bowie 1H. A wildcat well at 10,500 feet. It's 6.4 miles southeast of Crockett. Looks to be off of Cut Post Oak rd in between Crockett and Lovelady.

Hearing that the clock is "ticking out" on several leases so rock trucks been running all weekend

Anybody have a handle on Rig Availability for EOG in houston county ? ------ I am hearing there are major delays in their drilling schedule now

They have two rigs in Madison, one in Houston and one in Walker. If they were planning on moving a rig from another play (south EF) it may have been held up on location but that happens sometimes. I don't think I'd worry about it overmuch. If push came to shove... they could use a smaller rig to spud and drill the pilot hole and come back later with a big rig to drill the horizontal. That was done a lot when rigs availability got tight in Haynesville. There are several ways to skin this cat.

Of interest (to me), EOG is using NORAM Drilling in Walker Co. and that is my first sighting of this driller in our little corner of the world.

thanks jffree --- since they can now drill a H well in thirty days with a big rig,  I would think a "spud rig" would be inefficient ? but what do I know ?

DH,

the day rate on some of the small rigs can make it pretty economical.  Perhaps more importantly, the spudding of that vertical can serve to hold leases.

Did yall see the article in Houston County Courier about the meeting/discussion between EOG and road commissioners/county official about their activity in Porter Springs area? Some people were concerned that EOG was blocking roads, damaging culverts, etc while others were saying EOG had enhanced roads, put in extra culverts, etc. EOG seemed very cooperative.

Yes ---- EOG or it's rock hauling contractors did cause a traffic jam in Porter Springs ----------- It seems that EOG got behind due to weather on a location and worked all weekend ------- the rock haulers like to  travel in large convoys etc. and the county roads around Porter Springs are one lane and so empty trucks were trying to come out while loaded trucks were going in ----- the result  was to have twenty five or more parked trucks blocking the streets of Porter Springs on a Sunday Morning which hindered access to Church's etc.--- I suppose I-45 in Houston is much worse at times but thank goodness that the PS issues were temporary.

Just curious, Y'all....Is EOG now considered the big player in Houston County?  I've been wondering about all the leases that either have expired, or are about to expire.  Some may have been HBP...but there sure a lot of pads, rigs, trucks and service folks located on FM 230 between Weldon and Lovelady.

They have a core area that they are hitting pretty hard. Probably an extension of their Walker / Madison County efforts in the BudaRose section.

Can anyone report on this and the 5 drilling projects that EOG had planned for this area?

fracing Breez now ------- preparing to frac Mosley asap ----- Corey well getting pump soon but reportedly did pretty good so far ------- Salt Water Disposal running wide open ---- cheap oil has all new wells on hold but EOG and others desiring to re-new expiring acreage ------ all EOG contract landmen gone and office looks closed ----- some new large major pipelines going in asap and excising their AUTHORITY to do whatever/wherever/whenever they want despite locked gates, private property,wetlands,bald-eagles etc.etc.

Thanks. Had heard EOG had everything on hold to see how these wells turned out.  You may not can find a landman but EOG sure made sure the 1099s were sent out. XTO renewed a few leases in Pennington area but EOG holds the major acreage. Zaza has about 35 leases just south of Pennington area. Maybe they will do a joint venture at some point.
