Petrohawk to build natural gas well inside Shreveport
From Staff Reports • February 23, 2009 5:20 pm

Buzz up! Petrohawk Energy Corporation has announced it will drill the first natural gas well for the Haynesville Shale within the Shreveport city limits.

The company just held a press conference to announce the plan at the site, between 70th Street at the start of the Jimmie Davis Highway Bridge, and Clyde Fant Memorial Parkway in Shreveport.

Just wondering if this well is already in existence.

Well Serial #238527 is flaring as of the past couple of days.

Nabors #620 Rig, Petrohawk, B&K Exploration 37 #1, S37-T17N-R13W.

I hope they release the results in their conference call on the 25th.
Parker, that well was spudded on 11/14/08.
Yes, I know, but it is located right there. I was wondering if they might be getting ready to announce the RESULTS of the first well drilled within the city limits.

But on second thought, I did see a BUNCH of dump trucks at Hamels today, so maybe that is the location of their first well inside the city limits. The B&K 37 is probably outside of the city limits.
The fact that it is section 37 makes its location and description a little unusual. The maps show B-Caddo line to run through the oxbox behind the Haven and the well is on the Bossier side.
I didn't see the flare last night.

I wonder how long is "common" for a well to flare?
If you are flowing back after a frac, you will generally only do so untill the water returns cease or become manageable and/or the gas cleans up to pipeline quality. Ideally you want your gas to go into a sales line, not a flare.
So the quicker the better?
not really.

When you frac your injecting a lot of water into the well along with sand and N2. Depending on the size and # of fracs, as well as the % of water that is returned, the time could vary.

Also, they may not have a pipeline hooked up yet, so they may have no other option but to flare.
Les - Which parish was #238527 drilled in, I thought it was Bossier Parish? Thanks :0)
It is reported as Caddo Parish in the Cedar Grove field.
The well stake on the B&K Exploration 37-1 is 300 ft from the Bossier parish line. Google Earth makes it easy to keep up with all the well stakes.
The last scout report (02-20-09) said 238527 is in test.

Evidently they are happy with the results.
