So I'm coming over from Dallas for the meeting. Any good casual spots for a Etouffee and/or Gumbo lunch?????? I'm desperate. Thanks.

Of course there is good gumbo and etoufee in Shreveport. Go to Don's Seafood Restaurant at the corner of Kings Hwy. and Highland Ave. Order a dozen oysters on the half shell, the roux in the etoufee is excellent, dark chocolate brown, the gumbo is just as good but the etoufee is slightly my favorite. The crab meat salad is also very good. It's not South Louisiana, but you shouldn't be disappointed!
Check out Becca's in Huntington Plaza on Pines Road. Awesome shrimp poboy!
Gumbo to Geaux is good on Barksdale Boulevard (Hwy. 71S).
It's also hard to beat Don's.
Nobody goes to Ernest's? Marinated crab claws, lots of seafood dishes
Ernest's is closed for vacation
#1 Herby K's
#2 Herby K's
#3 Herby K's
In Shreveport - Don's or Ralph & Kacoos

In Natchitoches - The Landing

In Lafayette - Prejeans
1) Herby K's - shrimp buster, gumbo, fried oysters are the best....but, ettouffe and other dishes are also great....cold, big mug beer!
2) Ernest's - pricey, but fancy dining that competes with most So.LA fine dining......crab claws are a must!
3) Dudley & Gerald's - great for crawfish lovers, but also good catfish and other seafood dishes

I'd stay away from Ralph & Kacoo's or Don's Seafood ......both have gone downhill....hit or miss....one day good, next day bad.....the above three mentioned are consistently good.
SHREVEPORT IS NOT THE PLACE FOR ETOUFFE OR GUMBO. SORRY, YOU WILL NEED TO GO FURTHER SOUTH TO FINE A GOOD ONE.
come on naw; a good roux and shrimp, fish, crab, chicken, sausage, okra, tomato, special "cajun" seasoning, ect... is all you need besides the rice and the cold beer to wash it down.
Yes, on your way in - exit monkhouse turn left and go to Brother's Seafood. Good food, a nephew of the late great "Pete Harris". Pete Harris was part owner of the legendary "Freeman & Harris", eaten there were the great Patti LaBelle & Tina Turner.
Also Copeland's on Bert Kouns
